First, it was reported that a Republican candidate running in Chicago, Illinois tried to vote for himself… Only to have the electronic Diebold voting machine cast a vote for his opponent. Unlike paper ballots, computers are only as good as the programmers setting up software, and are always open to the possibility of hackers.
Now, there is more confirmation that Democrats are working with local, partisan board of election bureaucrats to rig machines in the same way. In Maryland, where far-left Gov. Martin O’Malley – a Presidential hopeful – is in charge, it has been comfirmed by experts that Democrats are getting a little extra “help” in the midterm elections:

“When I first selected my candidate on the electronic machine, it would not put the ‘x’ on the candidate I chose — a Republican — but it would put the ‘x’ on the Democrat candidate above it,” Donna Hamilton said.
“This happened multiple times with multiple selections. Every time my choice flipped from Republican to Democrat. Sometimes it required four or five tries to get the ‘x’ to stay on my real selection,” the Frederick, Md., resident said last week.
Queen Anne County Sheriff Gary Hofmann said he encountered the problem, too, personally.
“This is happening here as well. It occurred on two candidates on my machine. I am glad I checked. Many voters have reported this here as well,” Hofmann, a Republican, wrote in an email Sunday evening.
Two other Maryland voters reported the same in Anne Arundel County on Friday.
And local election officials are so quick to dismiss the serious concerns of disenfranchised voters:

Joe Torre, election director in Anne Arundel, called it a “calibration issue” involving a single machine.
Hamilton said she notified officials of the problem she encountered at the Frederick County Center, where she voted. “I’m not sure what was done about it. If someone is not paying close attention, they could end up voting for the wrong candidate,” she said.

Isn’t it interesting that “calibration issues” never seem to favor Republicans? Also, “calibration” is more of a term for analog devices… When what we are dealing with here is an actual computer programming issue.
But as a software developer and expert of on touch-screen technology used by the U.S. government told Newsmax, these stories of improper votes is alarming:
“It’s a software issue, and it’s incredibly suspicious that a bug like that could slip through accidentally. It defies belief,” said Tony Heller.
He said that any expert trained in the technology could figure out within minutes whether the problem with the software was accidental and deliberate.
“This is being used by the public for voting. Public trust is essential,” he said. “It’s completely unacceptable that an official waved it off as a calibration issue. It’s something that can be easily verified and should be.”
There is no excuse for allowing partisans to steal the election this way.

So while you’re not wrong, you are missing one key fact. Why are most Democrats today advocating for minorities and trying to fight poverty. And why are most KKK members backing Republicans like Donald Trump. Its because the many political parties themselves have switched sides of the isle many times throughout America’s political history. These are called The party system and there are roughly 6 or 7 of these. Economically speaking the parties havent moved much, with Republicans being financially conservative and Dems the opposite. But socially, they completely switched sides between the third and fourth political party system. To put it simply, anything current Republicans do or support would also be supported by Third party Democrats, and vise versa. This is basic political party history often ignored by both sides. Did past Democrats do terrible things? YES, and those things were advocated by people with the same political ideology and identity as today’s Republicans.

I know it’s not standard practice to check facts, but two points of interest that should make anyone question the validity of this article:
1. Republican governor Larry Hogan took office in Maryland in January 2015.
2. Early voting doesn’t begin in Maryland until October 27, three days after this article was written citing anecdotal evidence of voting that couldn’t possibly have occurred in this election.

Well Neely my daughter voted in Anna Texas yesterday and the guy voting in the next booth called the election official over because he voted straight Republican and it registered straight Democrat. He checked it before submitting it and caight it. She got through and left and doesn’t know how it was resolved but it is happening. So before you speak maybe you need to do some fact checking and check with some peo-ple who have voted early.

GEMMS software used in many states has been shown to have “features” such as to fractionalize the vote of the undesired candidate. Look at what Clinton Curtis testified in court over, he was instructed to place code in the machines to allow those in the know to swing the vote as desired, using secret user interface controls. This is not a partisan thing. It is likely placed in there by the ruling oligarchy so that if needed they can cheat to get their favorite puppet candidate in. But the media keeps focusing on individuals committing vote fraud.

We live in Illinois and this is what we have been worried about. How do we make sure our vote goes to Trump?
Don’t trust any voting machine that doesn’t have a paper trail, preferable a piece of paper that you can verify yourself. In other words, voting by mail is more secure than using a machine that just keeps a tally in computer memory — that is incredibly easy to “rig”. Why are we worried about voter impersonation, when hacking the voting machines is much, much cheaper and more effective?

In 2016, 15 states will have new voting restrictions in place for the first time in a presidential election. The new laws range from strict photo ID requirements to early voting cutbacks to registration restrictions. Those 15 states are: Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Overall, 20 states have new restrictions in effect since the 2010 midterm election, the vast majority under Republican legislatures.
Many Republican legislatures have been empowered to take such actions due to the Supreme Court’s 2013 gutting of 1965 the Federal Voting Rights Act, in a 5-to-4 vote.

There is now a large literature studying the effects of voter ID laws. James Avery and Mark Peffley find, “states with restrictive voter registration laws are much more likely to be biased toward upper-class turnout.” The GAO finds that voter ID laws reduce turnout among those between ages 18-23 and African-Americans (two key Democratic constituencies). A 2013 study finds that the proposal and passage of voter ID laws are “highly partisan, strategic, and racialized affairs.” They write, “Our findings confirm that Democrats are justified in their concern that restrictive voter legislation takes aim along racial lines with strategic partisan intent.”
After imposed Voter ID laws in 2014, Alabama’s Republican legislature proceeded in 2015 to close 31 driver’s license offices — most of them in rural, impoverished, majority-black counties — making it even harder for residents to get the most common form of ID used to vote.
VOTER REGISTRATION RESTRICTIONS
North Carolina’s Republican-controlled state legislature passed a series of voting restrictions in 2013, which were signed by a GOP governor. Lawmakers eliminated same-day registration, reduced the early voting period, ended pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds,and instituted a strict photo ID requirement, among a number of other restrictive changes. The measures were in effect for the first time in 2014

PURGING OF VOTER ROLLS
In 2008, more than 98,000 registered Georgia voters were removed from the roll of voters because of a computer mismatch in their personal identification information. Some 4,500 voters had to prove their citizenship to regain their right to vote.
In 1998, Florida created the Florida Central Voter File to combat voter fraud documented in the 1997 Miami mayoral election. Many people were purged from voter registration lists in Florida, because their names were similar to those of convicted felons, who are not allowed to vote under Florida law. According to the Palm Beach Post, African-Americans accounted for 88% of those removed from the rolls but were only about 11% of Florida’s voters. This may have cost Al Gore the presidency in the 2000 US presidential election.
In 2004 Michigan Republican state legislator John Pappageorge was quoted as saying, “If we do not suppress the Detroit vote, we’re going to have a tough time in this election.” Before the presidential election, on September 16, 2008, Obama legal counsel announced that they would be seeking an injunction to stop an alleged caging scheme in Michigan wherein the state Republican party would use home foreclosure lists to challenge voters still using their foreclosed home as a primary address at the polls. A Federal Appeals court ordered the reinstatement of 5,500 voters wrongly purged from the voter rolls by the state.
FELON DISENFRANCHISEMENT
As of 2010, roughly 5.85 million Americans — or about 2.5 percent of the voting age population — were unable to vote due to a current or previous felony conviction. Thirteen states permanently disenfranchise convicted felons; eighteen states restore voting rights after completion of prison, parole, and probation; four states re-enfranchise felons after they have been released from prison and have completed parole; thirteen states allow felons who have been released from prison to vote. Some states require felons to complete a process to restore voting rights.
This form of vote suppression in the United States disproportionately affects minorities including African-Americans and Latinos. A 2003 study found that states with high non-white prison populations were more likely than others to pass felon disenfranchisement laws, even after controlling for numerous other factors, which supports the racial threat hypothesis.
Maine and Vermont are the only states with unrestricted voting rights for people who are felons.
In Alabama a person convicted of a felony loses the ability to vote if the felony involves moral turpitude and can not petition to have it restored if convicted of a number of crimes having to do with sexual assault or abuse, including sodomy.
The United States is the only democracy in the world that regularly bans large numbers of felons from voting after they have discharged their sentences. The European Court of Human Rights in 2005 found that general rules for automatic disenfranchisements resulting from convictions to be against human rights.
GERRYMANDERING
Although both parties have used gerrymandering for years, the Republicans have perfected and advanced the art.
After their 2010 victories, Republicans decided they would need to tilt the odds further in their favor. Using their control of state legislatures, they gerrymandered districts to ensure their victories for the next decade (until the next census in 2020). In 2012, Democrats actually had a larger share of the popular vote for the House of Representatives, while Republicans gained their largest House majority in 60 years. Cook Political Report noted, “House GOP Won 49 Percent of Votes, 54 Percent of Seats.” How? They cheated. Karl Rove came out and said it in an Op-Ed, writing, “He who controls redistricting can control Congress.” They won in districts that were drawn specifically to allow them to win.
REDUCTION IN VOTING LOCATIONS / TIMES
In 2008 wait times of 2 to 10 hours were reported during early voting at multiple Georgia locations
During the Arizona Democratic primary, 2016, many voters spent over five hours in lines at several Maricopa County and Arizona polling stations. From 2012 to 2016 the number of polling places was cut by 70 percent, from 200 to just 60—one polling place per every 21,000 voters.
In 2011, Florida’s GOP-controlled legislature passed a series of laws, signed by Gov. Rick Scott (R), making it harder to vote. First, lawmakers reduced the early voting period, which contributed to long lines in the 2012 election. The legislature responded in 2013 by restoring some of the early voting days, but there are still fewer early balloting opportunities today than before the 2011 cutbacks.
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted (R) issued a directive reducing early voting on weekday evenings and weekends as well. These cuts were in effect for the first time in 2014.
In 2014, the Wisconsin Republican legislature reduced early voting hours on weekdays and eliminated them entirely on weekends.
OUR U.S. CONSTITUTION
Yes, that sacred document that serves as the bedrock of our democracy has a Republican bias. First of all we live in a Federal Republic of representative government, not a pure democracy. Our founding father created a political system that intentionally disperses power among the parts of government and among the geographies of the nation. That dispersion of political power is not proportional. All states get two Senators regardless of their population. Most rural, low-population states vote Republican. Most urban high-population states vote Democrat. They all send two Senators to the Congress, so the six Senators of California, New York, and Illinois representing about 70 million people are out voted by the 8 Senators of Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota representing about 3 million people.
This gives Republicans a legislative advantage in matters such as controlling the skew of the Supreme Court, whose appointments are under the advice and consent (now deprived consent) of the Senate. When looking at a national election map, it usually looks red across much of the middle of the nation with Democrat blue along the coasts, where most of the population resides.
BIASED MEDIA
OK, yes Trump claims the elections are rigged by a biased media. It’s a media that has put him where he is on the national stage. Trump has played the media like he wants to play a fine young woman.
It was estimated that by March Trump had received $2 billion worth of free media, which pummeled all of his Republican opponent’s paltry media budgets. It’s now estimated that he’s received over $4 billion worth of free media for his dystopian campaign. He now claims that they are biased – they sure are, in his favor! His spouted fabrications and preposterous proposals are treated with equal parity to legitimate political discourse. Even his claims of media bias receive excessive coverage and largely unchallenged respect by the media, now on the defensive. Unbelievable! But then, ”the media” is almost entirely corporate owned and they’d prefer Americans continue to view politics as a dirty horse-race rather than the serious business of selecting leaders to advance this nation.

There are many systems that could make voting a nearly fraud-proof process but all the technology and processes that could be in place to keep the vote fair are routinely ignored. Also they hold voting during work hours so a lot of hard working tax payers who play by the rules have to have our votes watered down by those who just “take advantage” of the system
Following is a letter I wrote to a friend who forwarded a link to this article to me:
An interesting article. Thank you for sending it. However, this article, even if it is right, is focused on the wrong things. There can be calibration problems with touch screen voting machines. For example, if the technician setting up the machine is short and the voter is tall they will not look at the machine the same way. The result is the voter will not get what he, or she, expects when touching the screen. It happens in every election and it happens to voters for both parties. It’s likely just a technical problem, as the election authorities have indicated. In any case, to have an effect on a district-wide election one would have to fiddle 1,800 machines(in St. Louis County). That’s a lot of risk, would require insider access, and lots of people.
I also know calibration errors are likely just that, “errors”, because the bipartisan volunteer group I work with on trying to replace electronic voting machines with paper ballots gets copies of Election Day technician reports for St. Louis County regularly. I’ve read through a couple of these and miscalibration is real (because it’s reported by lots of technicians) and likely has very little to do with election theft.
The real problem is the un-auditable electronic totals that (either as un-auditable or as inadequately audited) are central to the voting system in every single election district in the country. In Missouri 80% of the voters in my county will vote (in most elections) on touch screen machines that have no system-independent record of the voter’s intent. That means that if one person (that’s no exaggeration, one person) can screw with the system, they can determine election outcomes for an entire district. And, St. Louis County voting machines have an undocumented electronic back door that allows access if one can guess the one-character password (and it’s not #, *, ; or ¥). So, if “one person” can get to any one of 1,800 voting machines (say when they are stored in a school or church basement just before an election), then that person can load a program that will be easily and automatically moved ( via memory cards carrying the voting records) to the central tabulator computer where it can completely (and without any meaningful risk of being discovered) determine the outcome of the election.
“Un-auditable” means you can’t be caught. So, there will not be any cases brought for this kind of electronic vote fraud anywhere in the country this year. However, thanks to research by lots of public-spirited citizens, none of whom is an election official, we are beginning to develop tools that can sniff out this fraud.
I currently buy election data from the County after most elections. With that data I do statistical analysis (developed by others) looking for evidence of electronic fraud. It’s there and both parties are involved. That last point, I expect, is why our bills in the legislature requiring paper ballots have failed over the last eight years. I think–from actually talking to most of them–that a majority of individual legislators from both sides support us, but leadership in both parties does not.
So, while I am glad someone is paying attention to what is going on with elections, the whole “Democrats (or Republicans) are stealing elections” schtick is designed to keep us entertained and not focused on the real problem, an utterly un-auditable system that has been set up to make electronic election fraud easy.

Voting machine irregularities have NEVER been a one party claim. If they do exist as an epidemic then it’s a serious problem but there’s very little to support that claim.

Bill and Hillary Clinton helped expand vote fraud greatly during the 90s. They appointed many young leftists to government positions. Through their foundation, during Hillary’s stint as Sec. of State, they sold their influence. Over a hundred people in very high positions in our government would be brought down if details of the foundation were revealed (according to an ex FBI agent). These people owe their jobs to the Clintons. They fear a Trump Presidency. The Democratic party has been in the Clinton’s pocket for a long time.

Kosar, touch screens do , sometimes, need to be calibrated. i used to work in a restaurant that used them, over time, where you pressed on the screen , to order what you wanted, would shift. Normally it was a few millimeters, but, on occasion, it would be off by as much as 2 cm. So, it is possible. It is doubtful that is what happened though.
I do wonder about this, as well, since the companies that make these machines are owned by Republicans, why would they be programmed to favor Democrats?

When you vote check your ballot closely before submitting it. That will take care of the in person voting. But there is nothing to be done for this election unfortunately about dead people voting and people going state to state that are registered to vote in more than one state. And that does and is happening. They register to vote and simply move and register to vote where they currently have moved to. They do not go back and make sure to tell the previous election board where they lived they have moved and to take them off the voting rolls there. So Democrats are taking advantage of this and the dead people votes. Plus some people who have the means are traveling to and from the states to cast a ballot in the states where they are registered. We currently have no system in place to take care of people being registered in more than one state to vote but we do for driving. So go figure.

I live in MD, and there have been MANY CONFIRMED problems in several counties with regards to the machines and early voting, including in my home county of Somerset and neighboring Wicomico and Worcester counties as well as elsewhere in the state. This is of great concern as my question is this: how many votes were cast incorrectly because people didn’t catch the error in time?
This state is controlled by one party, and even formal complaints filed with the State Board of Elections and the Attorney General’s office may not prove to be very enlightening or fruitful. What is needed is an INDEPENDENT, outside investigation.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but your ‘Experts’ got it wrong on several counts.
First, it was in suburban Cook County, NOT in Chicago. The difference isn’t trivial. Cook County runs elections in areas OUTSIDE of Chicago. Within Chicago city limits, Chicago runs its own elections.
Second, the machines used in suburban Cook County are Sequoia, NOT Diebold.
And third, the voter – a Republican candidate – was sloppy in his voting, and failed to carefully review his votes before they were printed on the secured paper archive on the voting machine.
There was a video calibration problem with the machine that compounded the voter error. Remember your old Palm or Handspring PDA? Remember having to touch the screen in multiple places when prompted to calibrate the display? The Sequoia voting machines need the same video calibration done on them on a regular basis. Early voting in suburban Cook County lasts 12-14 days, and each touchscreen machine is used by many more voters than would use it on a typical one-day Election.
If you don’t get the basic facts of the story right, it really undermines the credibility of the reporting.

Sorry, but Jim’s right and the alleged expert is wrong. Touch screens have to be calibrated so that your programmed point of contact matches where it’s displayed on the touch screen. Obviously there was an issue in this case, but, it could happen anywhere unless the screens are kept calibrated. This is based on 20 years working in IT, by the way. Also, before I get bashed and labeled a liberal, I’m not. Period. I want Obama, Reid, Pelosi and many, many more GONE.

@Jim, I could go into a long, technical reason for it, but I doubt you would read it all, and doubt more you would believe it. But, it is true.
1 Unit malfunctioning, is a glitch. And honestly, as an IT person for 20 years, I have always had concerns about electronic voting. As with anything, there are good and bad with tech.
If there was more than a few units malfunctioning (dependent on the number used) then I would think it is a program. If the screen can be calibrated properly, again, a glitch. Not to say that someone there could not have calibrated the device wrong, on purpose. But, this article doesn’t say that. One of the biggest issues with touch screens, is you you touch one place, and it thinks it is another place.
Newer cell phones don’t seem to have a problem with this, but older ones, you had to put your fingers on different points to calibrate them. Larger monitors as well. The tech used in these voter machines is probably not all that new, to cut down costs. Hence, calibration problems.
So after reading the story it is the same story you all fell for last week, and there is no confirmation at all. Only more right wing scare tactics. Maybe what we should do is vote for someone outside the two parties. Someone who is not a politician as, not all, politicians can’t be trusted. Frankly. I am tired of taking the lesser of two evils, when I go to the pole, I want to vote for someone that has a good record outside of politics. Someone who has been honest about themselves and not lied, if their past has had problems, and who’s hasn’t, they aren’t afraid to admit that.
