CNN’s Alisyn Camerota and John Avlon had a rare moment of agreement with President Donald Trump Friday on “New Day,” when they admitted rape was a major issue for illegal immigrants.

“In the context of the moving national guard to the border, [Trump’s] saying that some of the human traffickers, there is a pattern of sexual abuse and rape,” Avlon, who is also the editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast, said.

“Sure, that’s a real problem,” Camerota replied.

“That is a real problem,” Avlon repeated. Camerota then pivoted to the caravan of illegals making their way towards the border and said there were no instances of rape among that particular group of migrants.

“As migrants and people seeking asylum are trying to get to the U.S. they are raped,” she said. “Not on this caravan, they’re not. I mean that’s why they’re traveling in a caravan. For safety.”

She then cited a BuzzFeed reporter who is traveling with the caravan, as proof that no sexual assault or rape has occurred.

“It’s also suggesting that this caravan of people seeking political asylum, that they’re rapists coming,” Camerota concluded. “Not only is it not the case, I mean let me just go to our — there is a BuzzFeed reporter traveling with the caravan. Here is what he reports: I’ve been with the caravan for 12 days. Haven’t seen or heard of anyone being raped at levels that nobody has ever seen before.”
