Representative James Clyburn suggested House Speaker Nancy Pelosi create a special committee or empower other committees to investigate the Capitol protest on January 6th should creating their desired commission fail in the Senate.
Clyburn’s comments are yet another sign that the Democrat Party has every intention of dragging out the one-time incident as long as they possibly can to score cheap political points with their base.
In an interview with CNN, the South Carolina congressman insinuated that avoiding an investigation into the events at the Capitol could lead to more violence.
“I think that if this does not happen, Nancy Pelosi, as speaker of the House, should move forward, either empower certain committees to do it or create a select committee, as she did with the coronavirus, to get to the bottom of it,” he said.
Clyburn admits that doing so would create a highly partisan investigation that would allow Republicans an easy counterpoint.
Rep. James Clyburn says Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s opposition to the Jan. 6 commission is “a shame.”

Clyburn Wants Pelosi To ‘Investigate’ January 6 One Way Or Another
Republicans have been rightly resistant to any investigation of the Capitol protest in January.
After an entire spring and summer of leftist-fueled race riots went unanalyzed, Democrats like Clyburn and Pelosi suddenly have an interest in creating an entire commission to look into a one-time event that got out of hand.
Senate Republicans have lined up to block the commission, and today the Senate voted 54-35 on the House-passed bill.
The Republicans who voted with the Democrats is a who’s who of NeverTrumpers:
- Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
- Mitt Romney of Utah
- Susan Collins of Maine
- Bill Cassidy of Louisiana
- Rob Portman of Ohio
- Ben Sasse of Nebraska
The commission is meant to be a “9/11-style” panel tasked with looking into the protest, how it developed, and how to prevent things from getting out of hand in the future.
Because, in the mind of Democrats, 1/6 is equal to 9/11. It’s simple math!

Traumatized
The need for a commission to investigate the Capitol protest is based more on Democrats’ fractured emotions and inability to cope with angry voters.
The way Republicans had to the past four years when they were harassed at restaurants or on the streets.
Democrats have certainly cranked up the melodrama to sell the need for an investigation too.
Clyburn celebrated when the House passed legislation to create the commission, calling the events of January 6th an “insurrection” and saying it was necessary to preserve democracy.
It is neither.
President Biden declared the events to be “the greatest assault since the Civil War on the Capitol.”

And of course, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) recently revealed that she has been in therapy to learn to cope with the “extraordinarily traumatizing” experience she had the day she was “almost killed.”
America doesn’t need an investigation into the Capitol protest, they need an investigation as to why too many of their lawmakers have such fragile minds.
