The midterms are upon us, it’s election day, and liberal pundits are undoubtedly hyperventilating into their recyclable breathing bags. The left-wing machine is busy trying every trick in their upcycled, sustainably made designer bags.

This time it’s the former intelligence community spooks creeping out of their retirement holes to opine on what they believe is a threat to our country, which is, unsurprisingly, the Republican Party.

Because it’s not enough to write their tell-all books and regale us with their expert opinion on CNN and MSNBC.

The President teed them up for this sort of dialogue; after all, he did call us the mega MAGA ultra super duper terrible to the extreme, not your daddy’s Republican Party, whatever any of that is supposed to mean.

So what is the best way to deal with the Republicans, according to one particular retired CIA officer? Treat them like al-Qaeda, of course!

A Lone Wolf

The attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband by a deranged lunatic has the Democratic Party churning the blame game machine to the max. But, apparently, the Republican Party is to blame for the horrendous attack because they are the party of violence.

Former CIA senior intelligence service officer Marc Polymeropoulos wrote a piece for NBC News Think this past Sunday using the attack as an example of how it’s time to treat the Republican Party the same way we treated terrorists the last 20 years.

But, unfortunately, Mr. Polymeropoulos makes an inaccurate comparison between the man who attacked Mr. Pelosi and a tactic used against my brothers and sisters often during the war on terror:

“Lone wolves are a thorn for domestic U.S. law enforcement as well, as we saw last week when a man not affiliated with any known group but immersed in right-wing propaganda attacked Paul Pelosi…”

The connection between this madman who never should’ve been on the streets in the first place to lone wolf terrorism is a massive stretch. But Mr. Polymeropoulos doesn’t stop there:

“While the authorities have taken appropriate action against him, there are few signs that the government is taking the big-pictures approach needed to combat the violence-inducing propaganda behind his crime.”

What kind of action does he wish our government could take against these “right-wing propagandists”?

The Good Ole’ Days

Mr. Polymeropoulos retired from the CIA in 2019, so like many of us who served in the last two decades, he spent a fair amount of time fighting the unending war on terror. Nevertheless, he takes some time in his opinion piece to reminisce about the not-so-distant past:

“The battle we engaged in with international terrorist groups like al-Qaeda wasn’t just with their legions of foot soldiers but with their highly effective propaganda arms as well.”

He goes on to explain how we view these highly sophisticated and organized terrorist propaganda machines:

“The U.S. and our allies considered those propagandists fundamental cogs in a terror group’s machinery, and just as culpable as any other terrorist.”

Allow me to take a moment to paint a better picture of what Mr. Polymeropoulos is talking about. Terrorist organizations, and don’t get it twisted, they are organized, and continue to be masters at reaching mentally unstable and desperate individuals via various means, including social media.

These groups like al-Qaeda would and still do, I imagine, craft messaging specifically to radicalize ‘lone wolves’ to assist in sewing chaos and fear, primarily to provide a distraction so they can work on their larger, more complex terror plots.

But unfortunately for the liberals who want this to be the talking point, this is not what happened in the case of the attack on Mr. Pelosi.

The Republican Party, including former President Donald Trump, does not have a propaganda machine telling mentally unstable people to attack and attempt to kill liberals, no matter how badly the left wishes it to be true.

A Review

Like many tools of the liberal machine, Mr. Polymeropoulos seems selective in his memory. He writes:

“Democratic politicians and leaders may not like Trump, but they don’t call for violence against him, let alone his execution.”

Besides the fact that the Speaker herself wanted to punch him in the face, which is but just one casual example of a Democratic speaking about violence towards the former President.

And we can’t forget the liberal comedian Kathy Griffin holding up a fake severed head of the former President. So I can list quite a few examples of Democrat politicians calling for violence against Republicans.

Let’s see, let’s go back in time to 2018 when Congresswoman Maxine Waters said:

“They’re not going to be able to go to a restaurant, they’re not going to be able to stop at a gas station, they’re not going to be able to shop at a department store. The people are going to turn on them, they’re going to protest, they’re going to absolutely harass them.”

Lovely.

How about in 2020 when Senator Chuck Schumer warned Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh that they “will pay the price” and that they “won’t know what hit you”.

Was he sewing propaganda to motivate a man to travel to Virginia in an attempt to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh?

Of course not.

The Real Threat

This narrative comparing Republicans to Nazis and terrorists is ridiculous, inaccurate, and dangerous. But this is the world we live in now, where the Democratic Party stays silent while the other party gets sloppily compared to fascists and mass murderers.

It was just this past August when Financial Times journalist Edward Luce tweeted:

“I’ve covered extremism and violent ideologies around the world over my career. Have never come across a political force more nihilistic, dangerous & contemptible than today’s Republicans. Nothing close.”

To which former CIA Director Michael Hayden replied:

“I agree, and I was the CIA Director.”

Glad you reminded us, Mr. Hayden, that you were the CIA Director. Can you hear my eyes rolling in my head? Because they are.

Mr. Polymeropoulos laments that, unfortunately, we have a document that restrains our government from attacking its citizens or political opponents over their differing opinions:

“The Constitution confers certain free-speech protections for extremist propaganda in the U.S. that prevent authorities from exactly replicating our foreign counterterrorism strategy here at home.”

I’m sorry, Mr. Polymeropoulos, that the pesky Constitution you used to support and defend is getting in the way of your dream of an oppressive government that polices the speech of its citizens. Thank God our founders wrote such a document.

The left likes to scream about a threat to democracy; you, Sir, and your ridiculous ideas of how government should view opposing viewpoints are the threat to democracy.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I will exercise my duty as a citizen of this country and go vote; give you one guess on what party I’ll be voting for today.

I’ll give you a hint; it’s not the one that calls me a fascist and an extremist.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
