Not a joke.
“Her story, spoken while holding back tears, shook Washington and the country,” wrote Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) of accuser Christine Blasey Ford, a California psychologist, for Time magazine’s new special edition.
“Her courage, in the face of those who wished to silence her, galvanized Americans,” added Harris.
“And her unfathomable sacrifice, out of a sense of civic duty, shined a spotlight on the way we treat survivors of sexual violence.”
With no corroborating evidence whatsoever, Blasey Ford took the national spotlight last summer and accused then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct against her when the two were teenagers back in the 1980s in the Washington, D.C., area.

Kavanaugh vehemently and consisted denied the allegations against him, including during his highly contentious and televised confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
After Blasey Ford made her accusations, several other women came forward and made 11th hour and also uncorroborated claims against Kavanaugh — claims he had sexually assaulted them, committed sexual misconduct, or witnessed sexual assaults against other women.
He denied all of it — every bit of it.
Ultimately the Senate confirmed him to the Supreme Court of the United States.

“She had a good life and a successful career — and risked everything to send a warning in a moment of grave consequence,” added Harris, a 2020 contender for the Democratic nomination for the White House, of Blasey Ford.
“At her core, she is a teacher. And through her courage, she forced the country to reckon with an issue that has too often been ignored and kept in the dark.”
Also named to the 2019 list: President Donald Trump; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.); Justice Brett Kavanaugh; Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.); former first lady Michelle Obama; actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson; golfing great Tiger Woods; basketball great LeBron James; and many others.
Forty-eight women were on the list this year.
Wrote former N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, in part, about the selection of President Trump, “President Trump deserves great credit for daring to try to personally persuade Chairman Kim [Jong-un] to join the family of nations. This approach holds the possibility for history – making changes on the Korean Peninsula to make us all safer.”
