Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Blames President For Gretchen Whitmer Kidnapping Plot – ‘All Roads Lead Back To Trump’

Lightfoot Whitmer

Yesterday, we reported that the FBI had thwarted a kidnapping plot against Michigan’s Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Now, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has broken her silence about this to effectively blame Donald Trump for this plot, despite the fact that he had nothing to do with it.,

Lightfoot Blames Trump For Whitmer Kidnapping Plot

“I think all roads lead back to Donald Trump,” Lightfoot told the Chicago Tribune. “Unfortunately, every single time he attacks a public official, and I know this personally, there are those who take that as license to come after us.”

“The level of hatred that has been spewed towards me every time the president or his spokesperson uses my name in public, not just attacking the city, but me personally, and I know this is the experience of other mayors and other elected officials across the country,” she added, somehow making this all about herself.

Not stopping there, Lightfoot went on to say that Trump “emboldened and empowered an element in our country that we know exists, sometimes we don’t want to talk about it, but it’s absolutely there and there’s a lot of racist, misogynist, xenophobic, violent people that are out there who threaten me and my family and other elected officials because the president gives them license.”

Lightfoot Doubles Down

Lightfoot doubled down on blaming Trump in another interview with NBC Chicago.

“When somebody’s calling in the middle of the night repeatedly, that’s an issue, and that has only happened since Donald Trump has been trying to attack me personally,” the radically liberal mayor said. “And it’s an issue that many of us as mayors have, and he seems to have a particular obsession with female and particularly mayors of color.“

She went on to talk about the “sophisticated” threats she claims that she and her family has received.

“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t get some kind of harassment,” Lightfoot said. “There is a real cause and effect when the President names me in a disparaging way, which is usually what he does, and people feeling like they have license to make what I regard as real threats.”

“We’ve all seen the same thing happen when he has focused his very large megaphone on us,” Lightfoot said. “Giving license to people who don’t whether they’re suffering some funk, some kind of mental disability, or thinking that they are patriots answering the call, but it’s serious.”

Plan To Kidnap Lightfoot

This came after thirteen men were arrested for plotting to kidnap and murder Whitmer, who blamed Trump, claiming that he has encouraged rightwing hate groups.

“Each time he has tweeted about me, each time that he has said ‘liberate Michigan’ and said I should negotiate with the very people who are arrested because they’re ‘good people’, that incites more domestic terror,” Whitmer told ABC News.

“And I am not the only governor going through this. Certainly it’s been worse for me than most, but it is not unique to me, it is not even unique to Democrats,” she added. “This White House has a duty to call it out and they won’t do it – in fact, they encourage it.”
