Capitol Police To Re-install Fencing Ahead Of Upcoming ‘Justice’ For January 6 Rally

Capitol police are reportedly planning to install fencing around the U.S. Capitol ahead of a rally demanding "justice" for those charged in the January 6 riot.

Capitol police are reportedly planning to re-install fencing around the U.S. Capitol ahead of a rally demanding “justice” for those charged in the January 6 Capitol riot.

An internal Capitol Police memo claims the rally, a “Justice For J6” protest, could also be seen as a “Justice for Ashli Babbitt” rally.

The memo notes that, according to CNN, “there’s been a noticeable uptick in violent rhetoric” surrounding the event ever since Capitol Police officer Lieutenant Michael Byrd came forward as the man who shot unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt.

Additionally, the Capitol Police Board requested temporary fencing be put in place again around the complex ahead of the rally.

The Associated Press reports that the request is likely to be approved according to a House Democratic aide.

The rally is scheduled for September 18th and the memo warns of competing counterprotests.

Rally For January 6 Justice

Capitol police, according to the reports, continue to track online chatter regarding the rally in defense of the January 6 riot.

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has advised that law enforcement needs to take the rally “very seriously.”

He even suggested the upcoming rally and its surrounding intelligence should be taken more seriously than the Capitol riot.

“I think they should take it very seriously,” he said on CNN. “In fact, they should take it more seriously than they took the same sort of intelligence that they likely saw on January 5.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi vowed: “We intend to have the integrity of the Capitol be intact.”

Capitol Fencing To Defend Against Rally

Just two months ago today, the New York Post celebrated removal of the Capitol fencing due to the January 6 riot, calling it “The People’s House once more.”

It would appear that it’s the People’s House only so long as there are no conservatives petitioning their government taking place outside.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki was pressed on the return of fencing around the Capitol.

“Should Americans expect this fence to go up every time there’s a new First Amendment demonstration?” one reporter asked at a press briefing Thursday.

“The leaders on Capitol Hill, they take steps to ensure that their members are safe,” Psaki replied.

“And obviously, the events on January 6th — a terrible day in our democracy — are still fresh in their minds,” she added. “So, of course, they’re going to take those steps.”

The Capitol complex for months after the January 6 rally had been fortified with thousands of National Guard troops, surrounded by razor wire fencing, and locked down with manned checkpoints.

Re-installing the fencing in some areas is obviously not to the same level, but is it necessary at all?

We’ve also seen the intelligence community cry wolf before.

Lawmakers were sent home back in March reportedly due to an alleged “plot to seize the (Capitol) complex.”

The plot never materialized.

“The only people seen around the Capitol building besides staff and the National Guard were media crews and people exercising,” the Daily Caller detailed.

A total of five people died in the Capitol protest, but only one was killed – Babbitt.

Despite AOC’s claims, USA Today reported within days of the January 6 riot that federal authorities admitted there was “no direct evidence of kill and capture teams” among those involved in the protests.
