Amidst the brouhaha between anti-gun activist David Hogg and Fox News host, Laura Ingraham, is a sad truth: liberal groups are trying to use Hogg’s star status to exact vengeance on their enemies.
That’s the theory of former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly anyway. On his personal website, O’Reilly expressed skepticism of Hogg’s ability to lead such a powerful boycott against the Fox anchor.

In a post on his website, O’Reilly said the companies which had withdrawn advertisements from Ingraham’s show were ‘being directed by powerful, shadowy radical groups who want [her] off the air.’
In the same post he insisted similar groups were behind his embarrassing and abrupt exit from Fox last year – prompted by the disclosure of a series of sexual harassment allegations.
Hogg may see himself as a righteous crusader for gun control. But, in reality, given his age and inexperience, he’s acting more like a pawn of larger liberal groups with an agenda. He may think he’s leading the charge, but the real power is behind the TV networks and legacy newspapers pushing his message.
Hogg addressed O’Reilly’s criticism last night on MSNBC. Here is his interview with Lawrence “stop the hammering” O’Donnell:
“If he sees shadowy figures as corporate America standing by us, okay, I guess. It doesn’t really make sense.”
Doesn’t make any sense? Is Hogg being purposefully obtuse? He helped lead a braying mob against Laura Ingraham, cutting off a dozen big-name advertisers from her show. That sure sounds like corporate America is standing with him.
If Hogg doesn’t think he’s being used by the political establishment to push their own anti-gun goals, he’s delusional. What started off as an impassioned protest spurred on by tragedy has quickly become a farce. Hogg is a puppet. He’s not in charge of his own crusade. Those pulling the strings should be ashamed.
