HBO star Bill Maher fired back at Rep. Rashida Tlaib after the Michigan Democrat called for a boycott of his show. Tlaib had suggested the boycott following Maher’s criticism of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Maher shredded BDS as a “bulls*** purity test” for the Democrat party, “by people who want to appear woke but actually slept through history class.”
Tlaib responded, “Maybe folks should boycott his show.”
Maher took to social media and blasted Tlaib Wednesday morning, noting that resorting to boycotts in order to silence dissenting opinions is weak.
“Some people have one move only: boycott. Cancel. Make-go-away,” he chastised.

Boycott the Democrat Party
Maher then noted that Tlaib would have to boycott a majority of her own party as well since a vast number of Democrats oppose the anti-Semitic and bigoted movement.
In a bipartisan effort last month, the House overwhelmingly rejected a resolution supporting BDS, opposing it by a vote of 398-17 (Maher incorrectly wrote ‘318’).

Pelosi in the 93%
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi lambasted support for the BDS movement from her freshman colleagues at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference earlier this year.
“We must also be vigilant against bigoted or dangerous ideologies masquerading as policy, and that includes BDS,” she told attendees.

Other Criticisms
The World Jewish Congress (WJC) over the weekend blasted Tlaib for her “deeply disturbing” call to boycott Maher, adding their own disapproval of the BDS movement.
“We Jews know what boycotts can lead to,” WJC President Ronald S. Lauder said in a statement. “We find it concerning that a member of the U.S. Congress would lobby for BDS and so easily suggest that Maher’s show should be boycotted simply because he expressed an opinion with which she disagrees.”
President Trump also came out firing at the Democrat and leveled her for a clear hatred of Israel and the Jewish people.
