Biden Obama Immediately Call For Gun Control In The Wake Of Boulder Shooting

In the wake of the shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado this week, President Joe Biden urged the U.S. Senate to pass stricter gun control measures, including a ban on so-called “assault” style weapons.

Biden said, “I got that done as a senator. It brought down mass shootings, we can do it again. We can ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in this country once again.”

Police identified the suspect as Syrian immigrant Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, of Arvada Colorado. Police said they did not have a motive as yet for the shooting that killed 10 people, including Boulder Police Officer Eric Talley.

In his comments on the shooting, President Biden referred to two current gun control measures that have passed the House and are awaiting a vote in the Senate.

“These are bills that received votes with both Republicans and Democrats in the House. This is not and should not be a partisan issue. This is an American issue that will save lives, American lives. And we have to act. We should also ban assault weapons in the process.”

Former President Barack Obama also took the opportunity to opine on the need for further gun control, demanding it be harder to buy “weapons of war,” despite police reports that Alissa used an AR-15 style pistol, not any military armaments.

According to CNN, the firearm was purchased legally

Gun Control Has Been The Biden Agenda From The Beginning

Gun control has been on Joe Biden’s to-do list from the beginning of his presidential campaign and before.

As a Senator, he was instrumental in passing the 1993 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, and the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.

A quick perusal of the Joe Biden for President website lays out a comprehensive plan for a ban on the manufacture and sale of “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines.

Second Amendment Supporters Fear A Joe Biden Presidency

Not all Americans are on board with Joe Biden’s “defeat the NRA” mentality.

Even before Joe Biden took the Oath of Office, law-abiding gun owners suspected what may be coming.

Gun stores all over the nation are seeing lines stretch around the block, ammunition flying off shelves as fast as employees can stock it, and inventory of weapons and ammunition going out the door as fast as it comes in.

Things like COVID lockdowns and civil unrest are often cited as the reason that gun sales go up, but Democrats in the White House also seem to fuel American’s fears that they will not be able to defend themselves.

According to a report from the Washington Post, when Barack Obama was elected in 2008, the number of background checks done between January 2008 and January 2009 jumped roughly 29%.

When Donald Trump was elected, background checks dropped 20% from January 2016 to January 2017.

Some Places Are Fighting Back On Gun Control

There are a number of places that have taken action to protect the Second Amendment rights of their citizens.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has called for his state to become a Second Amendment “sanctuary” state.

Texas Democrats like former senatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke, who now famously said during a 2019 presidential debate, “Hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) who has introduced legislation to create a national firearm registry that would make it illegal to possess a firearm without a license.

In response, Abbott is proposing a law “that would prohibit any state or government official from doing anything to implement any law, state or federal, that would take guns away from any Texan.”

In Newton County, Missouri, a bill has passed that authorizes the arrest of any federal agents who try to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of its citizens.

The Second Amendment Preservation Act states that all federal laws and regulations “which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms” will “be invalid in the county.”

Recently, the Indiana House voted to do away with the license to carry a handgun in the state.

Biden has not been shy about his gun control stances:
