Biden Admin Defends Reports Of Flying Illegal Immigrants Across The Country In ‘Pre-Dawn’ Flights

On Tuesday, when asked about reports that the Biden administration was scheduling overnight flights to bring illegal immigrants from the border to New York and Florida, White House press secretary Jen Psaki responded that it should be “no surprise.”

The exchange took place during the daily White House press briefing.

Psaki: ‘We Have A Moral Obligation To Do That And Deliver On That’

On Tuesday morning it was reported that these flights were happening, particularly for “unaccompanied minors.” The New York Post reported that their reporters on the ground were seeing illegal immigrants getting off planes in Florida and New York.

Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Psaki, “Why is the administration flying thousands of migrants from the border to Florida and New York in the middle of the night?”

Psaki replied with a semantics game, arguing about the “middle of the night” description: “Well I’m not sure it’s in the middle of the night, but let me tell you what’s happening here.”

Doocy interjected, “2:13 a.m., 4:29 a.m…very early in the morning–pre-dawn.”

Psaki continued, “Early flights. Earlier than you might like to take a flight. It is our legal responsibility to safely care for unaccompanied children until they can be swiftly unified with a parent or a vetted sponsor.”

“That’s something we take seriously,” Psaki added. “We have a moral obligation to do that and deliver on that.”

Psaki further explained, “As a part of the reunification process our Office of Refugee Resettlement facilitates travel for children in its custody to their families or sponsors across the country.”

“In recent weeks unaccompanied children passed through the Westchester airport en-route to their final destination to be unified with their parents or vetted sponsor,” she said. “It’s no surprise children can be seen traveling through states, not just New York.”

However, some of the photos that show it’s not just “unaccompanied minors” who are getting through.

Why The Middle Of The Night?

The New York Post Editorial Board opined, “They don’t want voters to know just how many people are being waved right into the country, because President Biden understands that open borders might be the policy of progressives, but it’s not popular among the majority of Americans.”

President Biden’s mishandling of the illegal immigration crisis has affected his approval rating.

The Associated Press reported on October 1 that a mere 35% of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the crisis.
