Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order to seal up gaps in the border wall near Yuma. Some of the materials to be used include shipping containers topped with razor wire.

The order, issued late last week, calls for containers standing 22 feet high to be welded together and an additional four feet of razor wiring added to the top.

Ducey’s reasoning for the order cites the Biden administration’s “lack of urgency on border security,” which he labels as a “dereliction of duty.”

“Arizona has had enough,” said Governor Ducey regarding the order. “We can’t wait any longer.”

“Our border communities are being used as the entryway to the United States, overwhelming law enforcement, hospitals, nonprofits and residents,” Ducey added.

Arizona Closing the Border Using Shipping Containers

News that Arizona Governor Doug Ducey had begun closing the border using shipping containers comes following word that the Biden administration was lifting the highly successful ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy.

The Trump-era program required those seeking asylum in the United States to stay on the Mexican side of the border while they await their court hearings.

President Joe Biden suspended the program on his first day in office, but lower courts had ordered it reinstated. That is until the Supreme Court ruled in June that the administration had the authority to end the policy.

Homeland Security issued a statement indicating the program would be dismantled in a “quick, and orderly manner,” an action that will certainly exacerbate issues at the already overwhelmed southern border.

Biden Had Been Looking Into Closing the Gaps

Arizona’s shipping container strategy appears to be a move suggesting they have little faith in President Biden closing the gaps in the border wall.

The Political Insider reported late last month that the administration had authorized closing four major gaps in the construction of the border wall near Yuma, Arizona.

This project, while separate from that announcement, seems to be pushing the administration to follow through.

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy confronted the White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, regarding news that the Biden administration would be finishing a wall she once called “racist.”

Doug Ducey blasted the administration for making no effort to close gaps in the border wall for years.

“For the last two years, Arizona has made every attempt to work with Washington to address the crisis on our border,” he said. “Time and time again we’ve stepped in to clean up their mess.”

“Arizonans can’t wait any longer for the federal government to deliver on their delayed promises.”

Despite knowing the security risks, President Biden caved to open-border extremists within his own party by vowing to halt construction immediately upon taking office.

“There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration, number 1,” he said in an interview with NPR.

Now, it seems, there is a bipartisan effort to close gaps in the border wall that would never have been there in the first place had he not interceded.
