AOC Shows Up To $30,000 Per Ticket Met Gala Event Wearing A ‘Tax The Rich’ Designer Gown

AOC arrived at the Met Gala, where tickets can go for as much as $30,000 each, wearing a designer gown with the words "Tax The Rich" scrawled across its back.

Socialist Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) arrived at Monday night’s Met Gala, where tickets can go for as much as $30,000 each, wearing a designer gown with the words “Tax The Rich” written on the back.

The stunning white dress looked almost like a modified wedding gown with an eyesore of bright red graffiti scrawled across it.

The New York Times reports that the dress was “emblazoned with a fiery statement” that could very well be addressed to “many of the patrons in attendance.”

The Times adds that the gown was created by designer Aurora James for the company Brother Vellies, whose website describes their clothing as “creating symbols” and “collaborating for personal freedoms,” something AOC vehemently opposes.

AOC’s ‘Tax the Rich’ Statement

The Associated Press reports that tickets to the Met Gala cost a minimum of $30,000 each, a rate she didn’t appear to have to personally pay as an invited guest.

Designers often choose a celebrity to wear one of their designs, which amounts to a free ticket for the wearer.

Still, the radioactive level of hypocrisy involving a privileged congresswoman wearing designer clothing to a $30,000/ticket event couldn’t be measured with a Geiger counter, it was so massive.

During a red carpet interview, AOC, far removed from her days as a bartender, said she was at the Met Gala to discuss “what it means to be working-class women of color at the Met.”

“And we said, we can’t just play along, but we need to break the fourth wall and challenge some of the institutions, and while the Met is known for its spectacle, we should have a conversation about it,” she said.

It’s unclear how she was challenging the art institution.

She also pointed out that the designer of the dress, Aurora James, is a ‘black immigrant.’

Indeed, James is an immigrant. From Canada.

As a Member of Congress, AOC earns over $174,000 annually. “Working class” is debatable.

Deserves A Raise

Critics noted that AOC’s hypocrisy was something truly to behold on two fronts – the elitist circles she apparently roams in, and the lack of masks worn by the elites seen in the video of her appearance.

Ocasio-Cortez has been a vocal proponent of taxing wealthy, job-creating Americans.

She, her party, and the wealthy socialites she hangs out with have also supported mask and vaccine mandates.

AOC argued shortly into her tenure in Congress that lawmakers such as herself deserve a pay raise.

In fact, she dismissed the amount as too small at the time arguing, “It’s not even like a raise.”

Ocasio-Cortez scoffed at the “superficial” pay raise, suggesting lawmakers are so strapped for cash that they are driven to “turn to lobbying firms and to cash in on member service after” they leave Congress.

AOC has since responded to criticism of her attendance at the uber-expensive Met Gala in a ‘Tax the Rich’ dress.

“Before haters get wild flying off the handle, New York elected officials are routinely invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing and supporting the city’s cultural institutions for the public,” she said.

This is true, according to the Insider.

“The time is now for children, childcare, healthcare, and climate action for all,” the New York Democrat later added. “Tax the rich.”

While criticism abounds, there aren’t many people talking about the fact that the dress looks god awful.
