Another Democrat Rep. Arrested By Capitol Police For Protest At Senate Office Building

Democrat Representative Hank Johnson was arrested by Capitol police Thursday during a protest to pressure Congress in eliminating the filibuster and allowing nationalization of elections.

Democrat Representative Hank Johnson was arrested by Capitol police Thursday during a protest to pressure Congress to eliminate the filibuster and nationalize election law.

Johnson (D-GA) bragged about his arrest on Twitter, even comparing himself to the late congressman John Lewis, who was beaten on ‘Bloody Sunday’ while demonstrating for actual voting rights.

“I was arrested today protesting against Senate inaction on voting rights legislation [and] filibuster reform,” he tweeted.

“In the spirit of my dear friend and mentor – the late Congressman John Lewis – I was getting in #goodtrouble.”

In all, 10 people were arrested during the protest, according to Capitol police, for “unlawfully demonstrating outside of the Hart Senate Office Building.”

Many were chanting, “Whose street? Our street. Whose house? Our house,” and, “This is what democracy looks like.”

Democrat Hank Johnson Arrested

Hank Johnson’s office issued a statement explaining the attention grab which resulted in his arrest.

“It was … in response to voter suppression bills and laws throughout the county, including Georgia, that target students, the elderly, and people of color,” they claimed.

Bear in mind, the Democrats are the party whose presidential candidate just received 81 million votes and still want you to think people are having difficulty voting in America.

Democrat legislation such as H.R. 1, or the ‘For the People Act,’ is an attempt by ‘resistance’ lawmakers to nationalize election laws.

“It would change election rules to make it easier to cheat and easier to manipulate election results,” Hans von Spakovsky, an American attorney and a former member of the Federal Election Commission, states.

Johnson has a history of strange statements – like wondering if the island territory of Guam could somehow capsize and tip over if too many American troops were based there.

He once lamented that budget cuts would lead to a “world without balloons.

Another Democrat Hauled Away

Representative Hank Johnson now becomes the second Democrat in about a week having been arrested at the Hart Senate Office for protesting against election integrity.

Representative Joyce Beatty (D-OH) was zip-tied and arrested after she led a group of protesters through the Senate office building last week.

Capitol police in that instance said that they had “warned the demonstrators three times to stop” before taking action.

Beatty, prior to the arrest, tweeted that she was “marching to the Senate” because “black women are demanding OUR right to vote!”

She would later add: “You can arrest me. You can’t stop me. You can’t silence me.”

Democrat Senators Krysten Sinema (AZ) and Joe Manchin (WV) have both argued that the filibuster is actually an essential tool of democracy.

“The truth, I would argue, is that voting and election reform that is done in a partisan manner will all but ensure partisan divisions continue to deepen,” Manchin wrote in an op-ed in the Charleston Gazette-Mail last month.

Fighting election integrity bills might be the only hope for Democrats in trying to stave off Republican control of the House and Senate come 2022.

That’s why they’re making a scene, willing to get arrested.
