Ann Coulter: If Trump Doesn’t Get the Wall His Presidency Will Have Been a Joke

Conservative author Ann Coulter, one of Donald Trump’s earliest supporters, warned the President that if he doesn’t build a border wall his legacy will be that of a “joke presidency.”

Coulter, who was mocked after predicting Trump would win the White House in 2016 based predominantly on his populist appeal and his promise to halt illegal immigration, appeared on the Daily Caller Podcast to discuss the president’s apparent evolution from demanding a government shutdown to kicking the can down the road.

She warned the President that if he loses this battle, he loses the presidency in 2020.

“They’re about to have a country where no Republican will ever be elected president again,” Coulter said analyzing the GOP’s inability to extract border wall funding from the Democrats.

“Trump will just have been a joke presidency who scammed the American people, amused the populists for a while, but he’ll have no legacy whatsoever,” Coulter added.

Not only will Trump lose the wall, he’ll lose her vote

Coulter, the best-selling author of numerous books, including “In Trump We Trust,” warned the President that if he fails to secure the border with his promised wall, she would refuse to vote for him.

When asked if she would continue supporting him going forward, Coulter unleashed and predicted the only lasting legacy of Trump’s presidency will be to have made money for his kids.

“No (I won’t vote for Trump). Nor will, I think, most of his supporters,” she said. “Why would you? To make sure, I don’t know, Ivanka and Jared can make money? That seems to be the main point of the presidency at this point.”

Coulter reflects a growing frustration among Trump supporters, many of whom feel that stopping illegal immigration and enforcing the rule of law is of paramount importance.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson, in an interview with conservative Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche, insisted the President has failed to keep his campaign promises, citing the border wall as one example.

Carlson, like Coulter, has warned that Democrats have opposed the wall for their own personal gain, with the former stating it will “stop the flow of cheap labor and new voters.”

Trump insists he’ll still build the wall using the military

President Trump still believes the border wall will ultimately be a victory for his administration.

“One way or the other, we will win on the Wall!” he declared.

The President is seeking to use the military to build the wall at the southern border, insisting that his renegotiation of the NAFTA deal will actually result in Mexico paying for it.

The President, sensing no cooperation from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, almost immediately signaled he would use the military to build the border wall.

“If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall,” he said. “They know how important it is.”

Funding has been a major source of disagreement between the President and congressional Democrats. Trump has demanded $5 billion while the resistance party has only been willing to cede $1.3 billion.

Somehow, the United States managed to pledge nearly $11 billion in aid to Central America and Mexico in the midst of the funding fight.

Coulter is right – Building the wall is a fight President Trump simply cannot lose if he hopes to win re-election in 2020. Let’s hope he’s right that it will get done “one way or the other.”
