Author and commentator Ann Coulter, once a regular on conservative media but now more known as a harsh critic of former President Donald Trump, says that Trump “betrayed his base” and that he was “abjectly stupid” because he did not complete the wall being built on the U.S. southern border.
Coulter was a very early supporter of Trump, even writing a book entitled, “In Trump We Trust, E Pluribus Awesome!” prior to the 2016 presidential election.
However, over the past several years, including during Trump’s presidency, she has become a vocal critic.

More Trump Bashing
Coulter was recently a guest on Andrew Sullivan’s “Dishcast” podcast, where she said she was aware of Trump’s personality and character, but was almost an instant supporter because of his positions on immigration, and that he promised to build a wall on the southern border.
During her podcast appearance, she gave a scathing assessment of Trump: “I was well familiar with what a narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky, vulgar, arriviste this guy was. That I knew about. The one thing I underestimated, in fact, did not see at all is, I had no idea how abjectly stupid the man is.”
She also criticized starting the Space Force in lieu of focusing on completion of the border wall: “Instead of building a wall to protect this country, at least maybe we’ll be able to go settle a new planet.”
At the time, Trump dismissed Coulter, calling her a “wacky nut job,” and said “I am winning on the border.”

No Stranger To Controversy
Coulter has always been a lightning rod for the left. She has never shied away from speaking her mind. Some of her more contentious comments have been things like,
“Proposing an immigration policy that serves America’s interests should not require an apology.”
“I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote.”
“Democrats couldn’t care less if people in Indiana hate them. But if Europeans curl their lips, liberals can’t look at themselves in the mirror.”
In addition to comments and tweets such as these, in 2004 at a speaking event at the University of Arizona, two men jumped on stage and threw custard pies at her, just grazing her in the shoulder.
Ann Coulter has really surprised me, and I’ve tweeted about that previously. Ann is really intellectual. It seems her brain has betrayed her; her values are gone! https://t.co/2ZpNqFnyJV

Coulter Praises Biden
Ann Coulter may have sealed her fate with conservatives.
In August, she praised President Joe Biden for withdrawing American troops from Afghanistan. Coulter took to twitter and said, “Thank you, President Biden, for keeping a promise Trump made, but then abandoned when he got to office.”

In an almost overkill followup tweet she continued, saying, “Trump REPEATEDLY demanded that we bring our soldiers home, but only President Biden had the balls to do it.”
