SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - FEBRUARY 22: The Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Downer (L), and former U.S. President Bill Clinton shake hands after signing a memorandum of understanding between the Clinton Foundation's new partnership and the Australian Government's international aid agency, AusAID, during a forum of Australian business leaders on February 22, 2006 in Sydney, Australia. The highly anticipated release of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes’s (R-Calif) FISA memo on Friday contained multitudes of evidence that there’s a vast anti-Trump conspiracy running to the very top of the FBI and Department of Justice. However, newly revealed information indicates that the investigation into Donald Trump’s campaign was initially launched thanks to an Australian diplomat tied up in a Clinton Foundation scandal worth millions.

Michael Smith, an Australian investigative journalist and former police detective, recently said that he’s been asked by the FBI to provide details about multiple allegations of mishandling millions of dollars contributed to the Clinton Foundation by the Australian government. “I have been asked to provide the FBI with further and better particulars about allegations regarding improper donations to the CF funded by Australian taxpayers,” Smith told LifeZette last month. At the center of those allegations are Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Alexander Downer, Australia’s top diplomat to Britain.

And Downer, it turns out, is the man who launched the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Trump’s campaign in July 2016.

The FBI first began investigating Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos after Downer had drinks with Papadopoulos at “at an upscale London bar in May 2016.” It’s unclear what exactly Papadopoulos told Downer during that meeting, but Downer later told U.S. law enforcement officials that Papadopoulos had told him Russia had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.

According to a New York Times report from Dec. 30, the information provided by Downer was a major factor in the FBI’s decision to investigate allegations of collusion between Trump’s campaign and the Russian government.

Meanwhile, Downer is suspected of helping to “dishonestly” obtain $25 million from the Australian government for the Clinton Foundation’s Clinton HIV/AIDs Initiative (CHAI). Smith says that he gave materials to the FBI containing evidence that shows “corrupt October 2006 backdating of false tender advertisements purporting to advertise the availability of a $15 million contract to provide HIV/AIDS services in Papua New Guinea on behalf of the Australian government after an agreement was already in place to pay the Clinton Foundation and/or associates.”

Smith also found evidence of a “$10 million financial advantage dishonestly obtained by deception between April 1, 2008, and Sept. 25, 2008, at Washington, D.C., New York, New York, and Canberra Australia involving an MOU between the Australian government, the ‘Clinton Climate Initiative,’ and the purported ‘Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute Inc.'”

Why are we only hearing more about this now, weeks after LifeZette first broke the news? The Clintons’ tentacles run deep and someone needs to answer for this “coincidence.”
