Al Sharpton Says Jefferson Memorial Must Go – ‘An Insult to My Family’

Be honest. When you first heard President Trump ask, “Is it George Washington next week and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after,” you kind of chuckled, didn’t you?

You thought, ‘There’s no way anti-history leftists would really go that far with their war on statues.’

You were wrong.

We found out earlier that a Chicago pastor wants a statue of George Washington removed from a local park, and the name of an Andrew Jackson site to be changed to honor Michael Jackson.

Now, Al Sharpton – AL SHARPTON! – is threatening the Thomas Jefferson memorial with defunding and insisting it is ‘an insult to my family.’

Via the Daily Caller:

MSNBC host Al Sharpton is calling for ending federal funding for maintenance and security for the Jefferson Memorial because the third U.S. president owned slaves.

“When you look at the fact that public monuments are supported by public funds you’re asking me to subsidize the insult of my family. I would repeat that the public should not be paying to uphold somebody who has had that kind of background,” Sharpton told CBS host Charlie Rose.

“You have private museums, you have other things that you may want to do there,” he added.

I’m no engineer, but I am quite certain the Jefferson Memorial isn’t going to fit in a museum.

Why is Al Sharpton concerned about insulting his family? Doesn’t he do that enough on his own, embarrassing them with his own brand of racism and violent rhetoric?

If one were to paraphrase Linus from the Peanuts cartoons, ‘of all the racists in the world Al Sharpton is the racistiest.’

Or something.

Here’s a short list of things Sharpton has done to “improve” race relations and tone down rhetoric in America:

  • Telling an audience member on the Morton Downey Jr. Show that “you a punk f*ggot.”
  • Calling Greeks “homos.”
  • Inciting a three-day riot in Crown Heights that resulted in an innocent Hasidic Jewish student visiting from Australia.
  • Started a protest at Freddie’s Fashion Mart that led one protester to attack the store, shoot several customers, and start a fire that killed seven employees.

That doesn’t even include the most egregious act of race-based crime in his history – backing Tawana Brawley in falsely accusing four white men, including a state trooper and Steven Pagones, an Assistant District Attorney in Dutchess County, New York, of rape.

That racist resume alone should be an insult to his family, and MSNBC should immediately defund Sharpton and have him placed in a museum.
