Afghan TV Host Tells Public Not To Be Afraid And Cooperate While Surrounded By Taliban With Guns

The host of Afghan TV’s Peace Studio was seen on video telling the general public in that country to “cooperate with it and should not be afraid,” referring to the newly reconstituted Taliban government.

But standing behind him were Taliban soldiers appearing to hold the host at gunpoint.

A reporter for the BBC provided some additional detail.

Afghan Television Host Tells Public ‘Cooperate With it’

The Peace Studio TV show airs on Kabul TV. In the videos shared by many on social media, the host appears to be held at gunpoint while members of the Taliban wearing tactical gear hold rifles and surround him.

On the video, the host tells the viewers to “cooperate with it.”

This is but the latest scene amidst the chaos since the Taliban retook control of the country after U.S. soldiers were withdrawn after occupying Afghanistan for two decades.

As if this and so many other events in Afghanistan haven’t already been ominous enough, last week The Political Insider reported that the Biden administration gave the Taliban the names of Americans and their allies still in the country.

Needless to say, former President Donald Trump did not approve: “Donald Trump excoriated President Joe Biden over reports that his administration provided the Taliban with a list of names of Americans and Afghan allies, something one official described as essentially giving them a ‘kill list.”

Biden Administration Provided Taliban With List

Politico reported on Thursday that multiple U.S. and congressional officials had provided details of the list.

“U.S. officials in Kabul gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies to grant entry into the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport,” they wrote.

Politico also noted that the news prompted “outrage” from lawmakers and military leaders.

“Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list,” one defense official told the outlet. “It’s just appalling and shocking and makes you feel unclean.”

Trump said of the move during an interview on Fox News, “Now we’re giving lists of Americans to the Taliban so now you just knock on the door and grab them and take them out.

“What you are watching now is only going to get worse, it can only go one way,” he added.

“We look like fools all over the world,” claimed Trump.

Biden’s Secretary of State Tony Blinken denied the accusation that lists were given to the Taliban, telling NBC’s Chuck Todd, “The idea that we shared lists of Americans or others with the Taliban is simply wrong.”

Asked by Todd what was shared, Blinken appeared to say that lists were, in fact, given:

“When you’re trying to get a bus or a group of people through and you need to show a manifest to do that — particularly in cases where people don’t have the necessary credentials on them or documents on them — then you’ll share names of the lists of people on the bus so they can be assured those are the people we’re looking to bring in. By definition, that’s exactly what’s happened.”
