White House Forced To Clarify After Biden’s Claim Of Having Cancer Causes An Uproar

President Biden on Wednesday sent the media and White House into cleanup mode after he mistakenly suggested he has cancer, something that would come as a bombshell revelation if true.

Biden’s comments came as part of remarks he made at Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset, Massachusetts regarding actions he planned to take on the so-called climate crisis.

The President told a childhood story about the effects of emissions from oil refineries when he said he had cancer in the present tense:

You had to put on your windshield wipers to get, literally, the oil slick off the window.  That’s why I and so damn many other people I grew up [with] have cancer and why can- — for the longest time, Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation.

The comment raised eyebrows, forcing the White House to clarify.

Media, White House Clean Up Biden’s Cancer Remarks

Washington Post columnist Glenn Kessler called the RNC’s tweet “dumb” as he pointed out Biden had “non-melanoma skin cancers” removed before he took office.

And indeed, the President’s most current health summary does mention these procedures.

“It is well-established that President Biden did spend a good deal of time in the sun in his youth,” the report reads. “He has had several localized, non-melanoma skin cancers removed with Mohs surgery before he started his presidency.”

Deputy press secretary Andrew Bates shared Kessler’s tweet as a means of clarification.

A White House official confirmed to Fox News that the President meant to speak of his past health issues.

The report, however, somehow managed to include the past tense phrase “has had,” something Biden clearly tripped up on in his comments.

Kessler can run cover all he wants for the President – that is why he is paid by the Washington Post – but others can certainly ask questions when he misspeaks. The media perpetually did so when Donald Trump was in office.

Biden Doesn’t Like Being Corrected

It’s certainly good news that President Biden does not have cancer. It can’t be the best news for the White House that they have to constantly clarify the president’s comments.

NBC News recently reported that the President isn’t exactly thrilled with having to have his comments cleaned up by aides either.

“The so-called clean-up campaign, he has told advisers, undermines him and smothers the authenticity that fueled his rise. Worse, it feeds a Republican talking point that he’s not fully in command,” they exposed.

What else are they supposed to do when he constantly misspeaks?

The White House has consistently maintained President Biden is in top-notch shape healthwise.

“You know, I can’t even keep up with him,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Her predecessor, Jen Psaki, made the same claim about the President’s stamina.

“I can tell you, having traveled with him a fair amount, sometimes he’s hard to keep up with,” Psaki said.

That’s fantastic news for the septuagenarian.
