A whistleblower complaint filed Wednesday alleges the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) urged workers at a migrant facility in Texas to downplay the severity of a COVID outbreak among children earlier this year.

NBC News reports that the complaint – sent to four Congressional committees and government watchdogs – details how children at a migrant shelter in Fort Bliss, Texas, were “mistreated by contractors and senior federal employee managers.”

The whistleblowers contend that an outbreak of COVID erupted at the migrant facility sometime between April and June.

“Covid was widespread among children and eventually spread to many employees. Hundreds of children contracted COVID in the overcrowded conditions,” the complaint reads.

“Adequate masks were not consistently provided to children, nor was their use consistently enforced.”

Whistleblowers Say HHS Instructed Them to Downplay COVID Outbreak

As with most precarious situations, the coverup is typically a bigger problem than the crime.

And according to the whistleblower complaint, HHS did their best to convince volunteers to downplay the fact that illegal immigrants housed in a federal facility were spreading COVID.

They claim that at the end of volunteer terms, “a sheet was passed around with detailed instructions from the HHS Public Affairs Office on how, when asked, to make everything sound positive about the Fort Bliss experience and to play down anything negative.”

“Every effort was made to downplay the degree of COVID infection at the site, and the size of the outbreak was deliberately kept under wraps,” the complaint reads.

At a town hall with employees, a senior manager from the U.S. Public Health Service refused to share the rate of infections, explaining that he did not want the number to end up reported by the media, according to the whistleblowers.

The senior official reportedly explained, “If that graph [of infections] is going to The Washington Post every day, it’s the only thing we’ll be dealing with and politics will take over, perception will take over, and we’re about reality, not perception.”

No Response From Democrats On Whistleblower HHS Complaint

Under normal circumstances, you’d think such allegations would be cause for alarm from radical Democrats like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who made it her life’s work to compare migrant facilities under President Trump to concentration camps.

Overcrowded conditions, the spread of disease.

Oh, and remember when Democrats accused President Trump of “literally” ripping babies from the arms of their mothers?

The federal contractors under Biden, according to the whistleblower complaint against HHS, gave children “false hopes of reuniting with family members only to pull them back at the last minute, even taking children out of lines for buses and off airplanes before takeoff.”

Lessons appear not to have been learned from what happened at the Fort Bliss migrant facility since then.

A judge in Hidalgo County, Texas earlier this week accused the Biden administration of releasing COVID-positive illegal immigrants into surrounding communities.

He blamed “ill-conceived policies” at the federal and state levels and “call(ed) on federal immigration officials to stop releasing infected migrants into our community.”

“The Biden administration must stop importing Covid into our country,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said previously.

Not only does it appear to be being imported, but according to the whistleblowers, HHS is trying to keep the media from letting the American people get word of it.
