Wealthy Democrat Donor Arrested On Child Porn Charges

Eliot Cutler, a former Carter administration official and Independent Maine gubernatorial candidate, was arrested last week on charges of possessing child pornography.

Cutler was arrested late last week and charged with four counts of possession of unlawful sexually explicit material of a minor under 12.

Maine State Police were tipped off to Cutler’s alleged activity by The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who reported in December that someone had either downloaded or uploaded a single illegal image.

The alleged crimes were to have taken place from that point up until March.

Cutler spent one night in Hancock County Jail but was released after posting $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at a Hancock County court arraignment on May 3.

Eliot Cutler Arrest

Eliot Cutler is a wealthy environmental lawyer who worked for Democratic Senator Ed Muskie and former President Jimmy Carter.

Under the Carter administration, he served as part of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget and was the top White House official for energy matters from 1977 to 1980, according to Mainebiz News.

Cutler also ran as an Independent candidate for governor of Maine in 2010 and 2014. He narrowly lost the 2010 election to Republican Paul LePage in a multi-candidate race.

The Maine GOP tweeted out a screenshot of some of Eliot Cutler’s donations which include monies to President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

Many of the recipients have pledged to return or donate the funds given to them by Cutler.

Maine’s incumbent governor, Democrat Janet Mills, forwarded the funds to the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

Other Maine politicians, including Independent Senator Angus King and Democrat Rep. Jared Golden, have also given the funds to charity.

More Charges on the Way?

Hancock and Washington Counties District Attorney Matt Foster indicated the four counts against Eliot Cutler may just be the tip of the iceberg.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if more charges were on the way,” Foster told the Associated Press.

Cutler also served on the board of the Lerner Foundation, resigning as the investigation and searches of his homes were underway. The foundation aids rural Maine students in getting into college.

“We were deeply disturbed to learn about the serious accusations brought against Eliot Cutler today,” a statement from the group’s Executive Director reads.

“In his former role on the Board of Directors, Eliot was involved in high-level strategy and governance and did not directly interface with students who participated in grant-funded programming,” the statement continues.

Another donor to Democrat causes, Ed Buck, was found guilty last July of injecting men with methamphetamine in exchange for sex, causing two deaths.

Buck had given over $500,000 to Democrat politicians, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, since 2000.

He will be facing a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison at his sentencing.
