Legendary NFL Quarterback Warren Moon Sued for Sexual Assault, Harassment

The Harvey Weinstein scandal has wound its way through Hollywood, Congress, Broadway, and now appears to have reached the NFL.

Legendary NFL quarterback Warren Moon is being sued for sexual harassment.

The Washington Post just broke the story: “A California woman who worked for a sports marketing firm led by Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon filed a sexual harassment lawsuit alleging that the retired football star required her to wear thong underwear and share his bed during business trips.”

More from the report: “The lawsuit, filed Monday in Orange County, Calif., also alleges that Moon, 61, committed sexual battery by grabbing the woman’s crotch during a trip to Seattle this year. The suit further accuses Moon of pulling off the woman’s bathing suit after slipping a drug into her drink during a separate trip to Mexico in October.”

The accuser, Wendy Haskell, says that Warren made sleeping in the same bed with him while wearing lingerie a requirement of her employment.

Moon has yet to respond to the charges. This isn’t looking good for the quarterback, who does have a violent history with women. But we’ll have to see how the lawsuit plays out until we know the full truth of what happened.

If the charges are true, it will be a taint on Moon’s legacy, which is epic, even by NFL standards. Moon played for 17 seasons in the League, most notably for the Houston Oilers from 1984 to 1993. He also played for the Seattle Seahawks, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fun fact: Senator Marco Rubio once called Warren Moon the most underrated NFL quarterback:

The sexual assault scandals keep pouring in and there’s no telling who will be outed next. If I had to take a guess, I’d say we’ll be hearing more about how professional athletes have used their position and power to take advantage of women.
