Virginia’s Black Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears Rips ‘Woke People’ For Soft On Crime Policies

Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears Says Criminals Don’t End Up In Nice Neighborhoods of ‘Woke People’ Who Let Them Out

On Friday, Virginia Lt. Gov Winsome Sears took on the rise of violent crime in recent years – and the trend of some big cities turning to soft-on-crime policies.

Particularly, she laid the blame on “woke” leftists, who have “let the criminals out” on to the streets.

Sears’ big issue – those criminals don’t end up going to the neighborhoods that woke people live in because that crowd tends to live in more affluent areas, not the less affluent areas dealing with the crime problem.

Sears made her comments during an interview on Fox Business Network’s “Fox Business Tonight” in which she explained why certain trends on the left have her concerned about crime and people’s basic safety.

Sears: ‘When the criminals are let free, they go right back into that community’

One of the examples covered in the segment was a “teenage rapper” being let out on bail after allegedly shooting a cop in New York City.

Sears criticized the woke crowd, saying such people should try to actually help those that they “claim to help and to love more than anybody else.”

“By the way, when the criminals are let free, they go right back into that community,” the Republican noted. “And is it any wonder then, that the people who live in those communities are afraid?”

“They are afraid to talk to the police because, you know, there is a saying on the street, snitches get stitches,” Virginia’s Lt. Gov. said.

Sears: ‘We have woke people letting the criminals out… You know, the criminals aren’t going to those folks’ neighborhoods’

Sears claimed that the “woke” bear no risk in these situations, yet sometimes seem to be the loudest voices on this issue.

“And people want to be safe,” Sears said. “And so, the crime continues. And we have woke people letting the criminals out.”

“You know, the criminals aren’t going to those folks’ neighborhoods, no,” she added. “Because they have security systems or they live in gated communities or they’re just pretty safe neighborhoods.”

“Help the people who you claim to help and to love more than anybody else,” Sears finished.
