The year was 1975, as agents from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) discussed during a congressional testimony a new type of gun which could cause heart attacks.
How does it work? By shooting a small poison dart in a way that could penetrate clothing. All that would be left is a tiny – barely noticeable – red dot on the body.
The weapon, made out of a modified Colt 1911, was discussed during the Church Committee probe into the CIA.
Whistleblower Mary Embree said: “The poison was frozen into some sort of dart and then it was shot at very high speed into the person.
“When it reached the person it would melt inside them, and there would be a tiny red dot on their body, which was hard to detect.
“There wouldn’t be a needle or anything like that left in the person.”
And because the toxin would not show up in an autopsy, there’s no way of knowing the true cause of death.
Now, conspiracy theorists are re-examining such weaponry after the suspicious death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia during a hunting trip in Texas.
