Tulsi Gabbard Demolishes Netflix Over ‘Cuties’ Scandal – ‘You Are Now Complicit’ In Child Sex Trafficking

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) just called out Netflix, saying that the streaming service is complicit in child sex trafficking for distributing the French award-winning film Cuties.

Netflix Defends ‘Cuties’

Netflix has been hit with backlash for distributing the film because it features little girls twerking. A spokesman for Netflix responded to the backlash by saying that people who care about stomping out child sexualization should watch the film.

“Cuties is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children,” the spokesperson told The Blaze. “It’s an award winning film and a powerful story about the pressure young girls face on social media and from society more generally growing up — and we’d encourage anyone who cares about these important issues to watch the movie.”

Gabbard Shuts Down Netflix

Gabbard, however, was not having any of it.

“[C]hild porn ‘Cuties’ will certainly whet the appetite of pedophiles & help fuel the child sex trafficking trade. 1 in 4 victims of trafficking are children,” she tweeted. “It happened to my friend’s 13 year old daughter. Netflix, you are now complicit.”

Gabbard’s tweet has quickly gone viral, with many users agreeing with her. Dr. Eugene Gu, CEO and founder of CoolQuit, had a different point of view, however.

“The film Cuties is a social commentary AGAINST child sexualization and exploitation,” he tweeted. “But social media and the mainstream media is all about Puritanical false accusations because this is America, and this is how we roll.”

Backlash Against ‘Cuties’

Backlash against Cuties has been swift, with many saying that it sexualizes young girls. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has gone so far as to call on the Department Of Justice to investigate Netflix and the filmmakers behind Cuties to see if they broke any federal laws against the production and distribution of child pornography.

“The film routinely fetishizes and sexualizes these pre-adolescent girls as they perform dances simulating sexual conduct in revealing clothing, including at least one scene with partial child nudity,” Cruz wrote in a letter to Attorney General William Barr. “These scenes in and of themselves are harmful. And it is likely that the filming of this movie created even more explicit and abusive scenes, and that pedophiles across the world in the future will manipulate and imitate this film in abusive ways.”

  • rejecting a fair comment about this movie, is like hitler goose stepping on my right to freedom of speech, put my comment up, it is relative.

  • Netflix contributes to societal decay (better ... Mr. Moderator?). "Cuties" is an entry-level drug leading to the "hard stuff", later on. Good for Tulsi! There needs to be an adult in the room. Evidently there are no adults at Netflix (only Epstein disciples). Many of my friends were Netflix subscribers. Not any more! Innocent? You have to be mentally deficient (OK with you ... Mr. Moderator?). What real man, father, or grandfather would want his little girl exposed to this? On the news tonight, the left is advancing legislation to "OK" relations between a 24 year man and 14 year old girl. What kind of s-i-c-k-o society is this becoming? God, please incinerate (word changed to please moderator) ... Sodom & Gomorrah again!

  • Preface: The "thought police" do not approve of my biblical reaction to this article. I will now have to reword my text to dodge this 1st Amendment "Terminator".

  • OrangeFish I am sorry that my post sounded like I approve of child porn to you. My point was that there is more than enough decent ADULT shows on netflix that indulging in matters that deal in child porn would only entice perverts. Therefore I will continue to use netflix to watch the multitude of adult themed shows WITHOUT resorting to obvious objectionable presentations. Again I am not going to get rid of a bushell of apples because I find one rotten one.

  • In a similar vein, I remember reading about the Hollywood child star "epidemic", where parents went a little too far to make their kid(s) a star, after the success of "Our Gang", and esp. Shirley Temple, of the 1930s & 1940s....

  • You have a very good point, sir. It could be said the film is an indictment of Western Civilization. As I've said elsewhere in comments here, it is just one way a generation of crybabies who've chosen not to become adults turns another generation into crybabies. Those complaining about the film (and Netflix) might want to look at themselves in a mirror, because their outward complaints are a mirror image of their inward nature. In this case, it may be that many of them feel conflicted about how to deal with sexuality in general. It is, after all, a very powerful and ancient urge, and the Judeo-Christian tradition puts very strict limits on it, but never really explains (at least in terms modern adults understand or accept) how to deal with it.

While I agree there won't be a "mass explosion of pedophilia," it's because that is already underway, and has been for decades (perhaps millennia, going all the way back to the beginnings of civilization). The word itself is Greek, after all, and not a new creation.

I don't subscribe to any streaming video service other than Amazon Prime (mainly for the other services), and don't watch any TV. I will occasionally watch inspirational movies and Christmas movies at that time of the year, but I'm more into science fiction and fantasy novels. I have no intention of watching "Cuties," because I'm not the target (having never had children of my own).

Thank you for taking the time to watch the movie and for your comments.
