Citing his “historic and brave” decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz announced a new train station being built near the Western Wall will be named in honor of President Trump.

“The Western Wall is the holiest place for the Jewish people, and I decided to name the train station that leads to it after president Trump – following his historic and brave decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel,” Katz told the Jerusalem Post.

Katz reportedly has approved final construction plans for the $700 million high-speed rail project, which will take four years to complete.

The Jerusalem Post tweeted that the station “could be the grandest tribute an American president has ever received from Israel.”

In May, President Trump made history, becoming the first sitting United States President to visit the Western Wall, one of Judaism’s holiest locations.

Officials at the time noted that the visit was part of Trump’s efforts to highlight “the need for unity among three of the world’s great religions.”

The President announced his “historic and brave” decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel earlier this month.

“The foreign policy of the United States is grounded in principled realism, which begins with an honest acknowledgment of plain facts,” Trump declared. “With respect to the State of Israel, that requires officially recognizing Jerusalem as its capital and relocating the United States Embassy to Israel to Jerusalem as soon as practicable.”

“We’re profoundly grateful for the President for his courageous and just decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to prepare for the opening of the US embassy here,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

“The President’s decision is an important step towards peace, for there is no peace that doesn’t include Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.”

Now, the people of Israel will honor and thank him with the naming of a new train station at the Western Wall. Isn’t it funny watching Israel and the United States acting like allies again, after eight years of Obama acting like we were enemies?
