Trump Celebrates Midterms Results Despite Democrat Victory – Threatens Investigations

President Trump Wednesday shared quotes from conservative economist and actor Ben Stein, celebrating the midterm election results and touting his “Trump magic.” Then he promised to go to toe-to-toe with Democrats, promising investigations.

Midterm results were a mixed bag for President Trump

As the results were tallied and the evening went largely according to predictions – Democrats won the House, but Republicans actually picked up seats in the Senate – the President celebrated what he perceived as “tremendous success.” (RELATED: Live Updates: 2018 Midterm Results, Breaking News.)

“Thank you to all,” he proclaimed.

Stein was on Fox Business Network’s election night coverage and noted that the gains in the Senate in an off-year election for an incumbent party are virtually unheard of, and noted Trump’s “magic” carried many of the candidates.

Not only did the Republicans ‘retain’ the Senate, but they also gained in the Senate, a body that maintains critical control over federal judicial appointments, including the Supreme Court.

(Libs better make sure their organ donor cards are up to date for at least the next two years, but likely six.)

Republicans are projected at this point to increase their current 51-seat majority to 54. Some of the key victories included:

  • Marsha Blackburn obliterating Democrat candidate Phil Bredesen in Tennessee, despite an endorsement from Taylor Swift.
  • Ted Cruz defeating Millenial pajama boy, Beto O’Rourke, despite the millions of outside $$ poured into the latter’s campaign.
  • Republican Martha McSally is set to defeat Kyrsten Sinema, an extremist who said it’s perfectly cool to join the Taliban.
  • Republican Josh Hawley hammered Democrat Senator ‘Air’ Claire McCaskill by double digits.
  • In Indiana, Trump-backed businessman Mike Braun defeated Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly, who will no longer have to worry about his staff overcoming their race.

The Senate wins, NBC reports, give “a critical boost to President Donald Trump and the GOP’s agenda.”

Trump Takes Credit

President Trump shared another quote on social media from Fox Business anchor David Asman, who said those Republicans he campaigned with were beneficiaries of the magic.

“Think of how his position with Republicans improves,” Asman said of Trump. “All the candidates who won tonight because of what he did in campaigning for them owe him their political career.”

President Mocks Those Who Didn’t Get Behind the Trump Train

The President bid a fond farewell to those candidates who didn’t support his agenda or follow his lead on the campaign trail. Actually, it wasn’t all that fond as he dismissed them out of hand and encouraged them to “say goodbye!”

The comment may have been a veiled shot at House Speaker Paul Ryan, who he warned last week “should be focusing on holding the Majority rather than giving his opinions on Birthright Citizenship, something he knows nothing about!”

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting that “Trump was furious with retiring House Speaker Paul Ryan — and blaming him for not raising enough money for House Republicans.”

President Trump is the Big Winner

There really is no other way to interpret Tuesday’s election results than with the understanding that the President was the big winner. Yes, the Democrats won the House and will likely launch investigation after investigation, filing article after article of impeachment.

But the tighter grip on the Senate assures two more years of conservative judicial appointments and all-but guarantees any impeachment proceedings will never advance.

It’s also relevant to note that a major portion of the candidates Trump stumped for ended up getting a groundswell of support and coasted to victory. The magic is real, and Republicans would be well served to try and harness it.

McCay Coppins of The Atlantic writes, “(Trump’s) mission to remake the Republican Party in his own image has been an unequivocal success.”

Trump Promises to Investigate the Democrats

And just to top everything off, President Trump is getting out in front of the newly-empowered Democrats, who are threatening to investigate the President, by promising his own investigations just now.

Looks like the next two years are going to be very interesting.
