Despite a record number of Republican elected officials running away over what Donald Trump said in a decade-old video, many of his supporters are standing strong.
That so many party elite were ready to jump ship while voters are staying shows that this election is truly different than any other. There has never been a bigger divide between party leaders and the party at-large.
Elites, who were never on the #TrumpTrain to begin with, thought that abandoning Trump a month before the election would save their own skins in the eyes of the voters and possibly force Trump to leave.
But, it seems to be just the opposite. Trump supporters are emboldened and standing up to the Establishment’s call for Trump to leave.
People are not OK with what he said, but they aren’t fans of the Clintons:
While Schiaroli was “disgusted” by the tape and said she would have a serious problem with her own husband saying anything like that, she believes Bill and Hillary Clinton have said and done things just as bad, if not worse.
“Hillary gets passes for everything,” Schiaroli told CNNMoney on Saturday.
Republican voters are standing by Trump, and they want the RNC to do the same. No one is wanting to jump off the #TrumpTrain:
As of now, GOP voters largely want the party to stand behind Trump. Nearly three-quarters of Republican voters, 74 percent, surveyed on Saturday said party officials should continue to support Trump. Only 13 percent think the party shouldn’t back him.
