Trump Rips the Foul Treatment New York City’s Police Officers Have Endured

President weighed in on the water attacks against law enforcement as Mayor de Blasio insists this Queens-born president knows nothing about the Big Apple

President Donald Trump was not letting this one go.

On Thursday, he blasted New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio — a 2020 Democrat candidate for the White House — for allowing what appears to be brazen lawlessness against members of the police department during his tenure.

In separate incidents earlier this week, people on the street threw water at New York City police officers as those officers were engaged in either making arrests or in patrolling the streets.

One cop was even hit in the head with a bucket in one of the incidents.

Since then, other citizens have begun using enormous water guns to drench police with water.

Trump sent out the following tweet about the earlier attacks — noting that “what took place in New York City with water being tossed on NYPD officers was a total disgrace.”

In a different tweet, Trump also wrote, “What took place was completely unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. Bill de Blasio should act immediately!”

De Blasio, however, addressed the issue during a press briefing in Brooklyn.

“First of all, the moment I heard about that incident I condemned it and I made very clear — and I want to make it clear here — anybody who interferes with the work of a police officer is going to be charged and is going to suffer the consequences,” as The New York Post reported.

“It’s illegal, it’s inappropriate, it’s unacceptable,” he went on.

“Now, to the president: The president knows nothing about New York City,” insisted de Blasio — who of course was talking about a long-time New Yorker. “This is a guy who wanted to go back to stop-and-frisk, which was a horrible failure.”

“When his presidency is over, really soon, he will not be welcome back in New York City,” insisted de Blasio.

De Blasio continued, “This is a guy who literally does not even understand the place he came from. He didn’t live the life of everyday New Yorkers. He was the child of a millionaire.”

The mayor doubled down on those remarks on Thursday night during an appearance, saying, “[Trump] doesn’t understand New York City. And when his presidency is over, really soon, he will not be welcome back in New York City.”

“I challenge you, Donald Trump, to come to New York City, and I will debate you about what’s right for New York City.”

Earlier in the week, Vice President Mike Pence weighed in on the heinous incidents, calling the behavior of various individuals “disgraceful.”

And check this out: The New York Post reported that since the incidents came to light, the NYPD has “busted three men, including a reputed Crips gang member on probation, in connection with the caught-on-video water-dousing of cops in Harlem and Brooklyn, law enforcement sources told [the publication].”

One of the men “has more than 20 prior arrests on his record, including for assault, said sources, who noted that most of the busts are sealed,” The Post noted.

Host Laura Ingraham of “The Ingraham Angle” on Fox News has addressed this story from the beginning — check out this video below from interviews earlier this week:
