Report: Robert Mueller Investigating President Trump For Obstruction Of Justice

Even though President Trump felt “vindicated” after the testimony of ex-FBI Director James Comey, he may not be out of the woods of this Russian investigation quite yet. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is on the warpath and has spread his investigation into new areas. That includes the possibility that Trump himself is now under investigation. Despite the fact that Comey told Trump numerous times that he was not personally under investigation, that may no longer be the case. Mueller may be going after the “obstruction of justice” charges Democrats and the media have been begging for.

The move by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s own conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

More from The Political Insider

The investigation stems from another story that alleged Trump urged DNI Coats and NSA Director Rodgers to publically deny there was any Russian connection to his campaign. Coats and Rodgers deny any such pressure was felt.

Five people briefed on the requests, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said Daniel Coats, the current director of national intelligence, Adm. Mike Rogers, head of the National Security Agency, and Rogers’ recently departed deputy, Richard Ledgett, agreed to be interviewed by Mueller’s investigators as early as this week.

Legal experts agree it will be near impossible to prove President Trump obstructed the investigation into Russian meddling in the election. Even Comey said he only believed President Trump to be speaking to him about the investigation into Michael Flynn and in previous testimony confirmed that no one in the administration pressured the FBI to stop the investigation into Russia.

While this goes on, the American people are growing tired. They want President Trump to actually lead this country and fix the problems plaguing us. Hopefully, this charade of an investigation will end soon.
