Former Donald Trump adviser Jason Miller spoke out this week to claim that the ex-president is not considering replacing Mike Pence on a potential 2024 bid for the White House.
“I wonder who was pushing this story? Could it maybe be the supporters of Governor Noem?” Miller questioned, going on to clarify that he was not attempting to “take anything away” from the South Dakota governor.
“I can tell you, as someone who probably speaks with him on the political side as much, if not more than anybody else, never once has there been a conversation internally or in a group about doing something different for the VP position for 2024 if he decides to go that route,” Miller continued.
“President Trump and Vice President Pence have had a couple of really good conversations since President Trump left office,” he added.
Trump and Pence had a brief falling out after the former president demanded that the ex-vice president act against certifying the 2020 election during Congress’s election certification process.
Pence refused to comply with this, and instead said that he did not believe he had Constitutional authority to overturn the electoral votes.
“I realize that some Trump supporters might be a little bit frustrated with the former vice president,” said Miller. “He’s a great guy. He’s been a loyal ally, loyal teammate. And I think President Trump still has pretty high regard and fondness for Vice President Pence
This comes days after Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) officially endorsed Trump, should he run again in 2024.
“[H]e’s the leader of the conservative movement,” Jordan said of Trump. “He’s the leader of the America first movement, and he is the leader of the Republican Party.”
“And I hope, and you know, I hope — like I said yesterday, I hope on January 20, 2025 he’s, once again, will be the leader of our country,” he added. “I hope he runs, but he’s definitely the leader of our party.”
“We need to stay together, and the vast, vast, vast majority of our party supports President Trump as our leader,” Jordan said.
