It’s rather ironic that the mainstream media has been harping about the scourge of ‘fake news’ these last few months, when they continually publish such stories about alleged hate crimes involving anti-Muslim backlash that rarely pan out.
A Texas man, for example, recently pled guilty to setting his own mosque on fire, a story in which mainstream “media outlets immediately exploited the tragedy to place the blame on Donald Trump.”
Now this – A Muslim college student was forced to admit she made up a story about Trump supporters attacking her on a New York City subway while others did nothing to stop it. She had originally claimed the ‘white men’ tried taking her hijab, and repeatedly shouted that she was a terrorist.
The media was quick to spread word of the violent, bigoted Trump supporters. But oopsie, turns out they never existed.
Via Fox News Insider:
A Muslim teen who claimed she was a harassed by a trio of Trump supporters on a New York City subway train admitted to police that she made the whole thing up, Trace Gallagher reported on “The Kelly File” tonight.
Yasmin Seweid, 18, was arrested by the NYPD on Wednesday and charged with obstructing governmental administration and filing a false report.
Gallagher reported that Seweid claimed that drunken young white men accosted her on the subway on December 1.
She said they shouted “Trump! Trump!” and called her a “terrorist,” as they tried to steal her hijab.
“Get the hell out of the country!” she claimed they yelled at her. “You don’t belong here!”
Gallagher said that when cops tried to confirm her story by looking at surveillance video and having her describe her assailants, inconsistencies began to appear.
Seweid would eventually have to admit that the entire story was fabricated, and that the media had fallen for yet another fake anti-Muslim story.
She is now under arrest, charged with filing a false report, and faces up to a year in jail for each charge.
