An eight-year-old boy with a very sick father wrote three letters to try and help his ailing Dad – one went to President Trump, one went to First Daughter Ivanka Trump, and another went to Santa Claus. Guess which one of the three responded?
Fore Putnam’s Dad, Trae, had been suffering through three years worth of dialysis treatments when the boy took pen to paper. Trae is on the transplant list and the family has been hoping and praying for a new kidney, something he desperately needs as he battles a rare blood disease.
“My Dad has been sick for a long time,” Fore wrote to the President. “I want him to get better, so he can get a job again so we can play.”
Making matters worse, the boy’s mother left them.
“If my Dad gets better, she might come back,” he said hopefully.
“Please help my Dad for Christmas,” Fore added. “That’s all I want for Christmas, and maybe one toy.”

Truly heartbreaking.
Months later, an official envelope arrived in the Putnam mailbox from the White House. Fore’s grandmother assumed it would be a form letter. What she and the boy found, however, was a personalized response from the President, himself.
“I can tell that you are a brave young man with a big heart,” Trump wrote. “I admire your determination to make sure your Dad has the support and resources he needs to feel better.”
“Mrs. Trump and I will keep you and your Dad in our thoughts and prayers,” he added.

Aside from the words of encouragement from the President, Trump also gave Fore and his Dad a little bit of hope in the letter.
“I have shared your letter with my staff, and they are working to see what help they can provide,” the commander-in-chief said.
“I know there are thousands of people in my same situation and you kind of feel hopeless and like nobody cares,” Trae told WSOC News. “So it would be awesome if he really could help.”
