Liberals Smear Trump as He Commemorates “Patriot Day 2018”

We’re off to an overly politicized 9/11 already, and it’s not even past noon yet as of writing.

MSNBC kicked off the day with a discussion on the show Morning Joe, in which the hosts argued that Donald Trump has done more damage to America than the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Can you say, “outrageously stupid”?

Meanwhile, hack journalist Don Bradshaw posted an image to Twitter making it appear that Trump was ebullient and celebrating as he was arriving in Johnstown, PA, today to attend the Flight 93 memorial service. Many liberals followed his lead, and criticized Trump for his macho-man swagger.

In reality, Trump was greeting the troops, who were ecstatic to meet him. The footage of the “incident” can be seen below, and there’s nothing sinister about it. He was just a few feet away from a crowd of troops, which isn’t captured in the photo.

And what better way to meet our men and women and service than a little show of American toughness?

Another claim circulating the web today is that after the 9/11 attacks, Trump bragged on television that he now had the largest building in New York City. However, if you listen to the full statement, Trump was describing the wreckage, and how breathtaking the collapse of the World Trade Center was. Here’s what he said: “40 Wall street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually before the World Trade Center the tallest, and and then when they built the World Trade Center it became known as the second-tallest, and now it’s the tallest And I just spoke to my people, and they said it’s [the wreckage] the most unbelievable sight, it’s probably seven or eight blocks away from the World Trade Center, and yet Wall Street is littered with two feet of stone and brick and mortar and steel …” Trump said. I’m not sure I’d call that bragging.

Furthermore, Trump’s comment was made in response to questions about whether his buildings had sustained any damage and whether he was taking any precautions to protect them. Taller buildings are more vulnerable to the sort of terrorist attack we saw on 9/11.

And I’m sure by the time I finish some new smear will be circulating.

Trump, however, will be busy honoring those we lost. According to Fox News, “Trump on Tuesday also signed a proclamation designating Sept. 11, 2018 ‘Patriot Day 2018’ in honor of the victims from the tragic terror attacks nearly two decades ago, and ‘every hero who has given their life since that day to protect our safety.'”

It also contains a line that a similar statement from Obama would never include, detailing how the day “erupted into horror and anguish when radical Islamist terrorists carried out an unprecedented attack on hour homeland.”

Trump retweeted the full statement shared by White House Director of Social Media Dan Scavino Jr., tweeting, “#NeverForget #September11th.”

“On Patriot Day, we honor the memories of the nearly 3,000 precious lives we lost on September 11, 2001, and every hero who has given their life since that day to protect our safety and our freedom,” the proclamation says. “We come together, today, to recall this timeless truth: When America is united, no force on Earth can break us apart. Our values endure; our people thrive; our Nation prevails; and the memory of our loved ones never fades.”

Seventeen years after 9/11, we can confidently say that we’re safer from terrorism than we were before. Since that day, the U.S. has faced 104 Islamist terror plots or attacks. Our national security since has thwarted 87 of them, and made it much harder for terrorists to carry out large, complex attacks.

Thanks to Trump destroying ISIS’ so-called caliphate, the number of terror plots dramatically declined, from 17 plots and attacks in 2015 to only three so far in 2018, all of which were thwarted.
