Dem Lawmaker Already Wants to Impeach Trump

Trump impeachment

The man still hasn’t spent one full day in the White House, and Democrats are already foaming at the mouth seeking ways to impeach Donald Trump.

As reported previously, liberals have been hard at work plotting ways in which Trump can be impeached. Most of the sensationalist talk centered around far-left media outlets like the Huffington Post, or fringe organizations like MoveOn.org.

Now however, the crazy notion of impeaching a man who hasn’t become President yet is hitting the mainstream, as Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD) is looking to begin proceedings as soon as possible.

A Democratic lawmaker plans to initiate impeachment proceedings against President-elect Donald Trump as soon as possible, according to a Wednesday interview with The Young Turks.

Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin won election in Maryland’s 8th Congressional District for the first time in 2016, and it appears the former state Senate majority whip wants to make his mark, by impeaching the president-elect. Raskin currently serves as a professor of constitutional law at the American University law school.

“Right now it looks pretty obvious that he’s on a collision course with the Emoluments Clause,” Raskin asserted. “He has refused to divest himself of tens or hundreds of millions of dollars of business interests he has around the world doing business with foreign governments.”

Trump announced in a press conference early January that he planned to cede control of all of this business interests to his two sons, Donald Trump, Jr., and Eric Trump. Ivanka Trump moved to Washington, D.C., with Jared Kushner, who has a place in the White House as a key adviser.

Earlier this week, Raskin said he would attend the inauguration but gave a very peculiar reason for being there.

“I just know that if I’m going to vote to impeach the man at some point, I would like to be able to look him in the eye on Inauguration Day,” he said during an interview.

Raskin said he viewed attending the ceremony as a “constitutional duty” and that he did not want to “run away from this.”

Just days later, Raskin went running away from it, backing out of attending the inauguration because he supposedly could not stomach Trump’s “relentless trafficking in bigotry, misogyny and fear.”

Let’s hope his word on impeachment threats is equally as weak.
