After Nancy Pelosi accused Donald Trump of racism Sunday for criticizing the poor condition of Rep. Elijah Cummings’ Baltimore congressional district, the president doubled down in his criticism.
“Someone please explain to Nancy Pelosi, who was recently called a racist by those in her own party, that there is nothing wrong with bringing out the very obvious fact that Congressman Elijah Cummings has done a very poor job for his district and the City of Baltimore,” Trump tweeted.
“Just take a look, the facts speak louder than words!” he continued. “The Democrats always play the Race Card, when in fact, they have done so little for our Nation’s great African American people. Now, lowest unemployment in U.S. history, and only getting better. Elijah Cummings has failed badly!”

Trump appeared not to like Cummings’ treatment of acting Homeland Security Sec. Kevin McAleenan during a House Oversight Committee hearing earlier this month, in which Cummings shouted at McAleenan, accusing him and DHS of having an “empathy deficit” over how they have handled immigrants detained for entering the United States illegally.

“Rep. Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men [and] women of Border Patrol, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous,” Trump tweeted on Saturday. “His district is considered the Worst in the USA as proven last week doing a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient [and] well run, just very crowded.”

“Cumming[s] District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess,” Trump continued. “If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous [and] filthy place.”

“Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States,” Trump added. “No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!”

Pelosi defended Cummings, tweeting, “[Cummings] is a champion in the Congress and the country for civil rights and economic justice, a beloved leader in Baltimore, and deeply valued colleague. We all reject racist attacks against him and support his steadfast leadership. #ElijahCummingsIsAPatriot”

No doubt the war of words will continue, but isn’t the president right? Aren’t Democrats always quick to play the race card? Don’t they alway attribute everything to racism, even when what’s being discussed has nothing to do with it?
