Trump Admits Concern for Embattled EPA Chief Scott Pruitt

There’s a general consensus arising within the conservative movement: EPA head Scott Pruitt is now a liability. His string of scandals, which have become nearly routine in the daily news cycle, do not help the Trump Administration’s anti-swamp image.

Pruitt needs to go. While he’s done a good job reining in his overextended agency, his blatant graft and abuse of power are too much for anyone who cares about public service to tolerate.

Many conservatives are starting to realize this, starting with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who recently called for Pruitt’s ouster. (RELATED: Laura Ingraham Calls for Trump to Fire Scott Pruitt). National Review, the premier conservative ideas magazine, has called for his firing as well. Even Senator Inhofe, a fellow Oklahoma Republican, has called for him to go.

This morning during President Trump’s impromptu interview with “Fox & Friends,” the President was asked about Pruitt and all the criticism he’s received in the media. Trump, who in normal circumstances lashed out against negative perceptions about his administration, was remarkably dour about the situation. Here’s what happened via the Daily Caller:

President Donald Trump told reporters that while Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt has done a fantastic job, but admitted he had concerns about mounting scandals.

“I’m not happy about certain things, but he’s done a fantastic job at EPA,” Trump told reporters outside the White House on Friday morning.

Nobody is happy about Pruitt at the moment. While he showed promise as a conservative reformer of an agency limited government advocates want to dismantle tooth and nail, his personal behavior has been woefully disappointing.

President Trump should get rid of him as soon as possible and put in a principled head of the EPA who won’t take advantage of their authority.

The American people, both liberal and conservative, deserve it.
