Trump Endorses Lisa Murkowski’s 2022 Republican Challenger Kelly Tshibaka

President Donald Trump spoke out this week to endorse Kelly Tshibaka, the Republican who is challenging Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) in the 2022 race.

Trump Endorses Murkowski

“Lisa Murkowski is bad for Alaska,” Trump said in an email announcing the endorsement, according to Mediaite.

“Her vote to confirm Biden’s Interior Secretary was a vote to kill long sought for, and approved, ANWR, and Alaska jobs. Murkowski has got to go! Kelly Tshibaka is the candidate who can beat Murkowski — and she will. Kelly is a fighter who stands for Alaska values and America First,” Trump said.

“She is MAGA all the way, pro-energy, strong on the Border, tough on Crime and totally supports our Military and our great Vets,” he added. “Kelly is a powerful supporter of the Second Amendment and JOBS! I look forward to campaigning in Alaska for Kelly Tshibaka. She has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

Tshibaka Responds

Tshibaka responded by saying, “To have his strong endorsement is great news for our campaign and even better news for the people of Alaska, because it means we will be getting our Senate seat back from Lisa Murkowski,” according to Fox News.

“President Trump won Alaska by double digits twice because his leadership and policies made him the best president our state has ever known,” she continued, going on to attack Murkowski for opposing “Trump in both 2016 and 2020, proving definitively that she has no idea what Alaskans need or want.”

Murkowski is one of the Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for a second time earlier this year. Despite getting tons of backlash for this, Murkowski claims to have no regrets about the move.

“They can make that statement,” she said back in March. “But I will make the statement, again, that my obligation is to support the Constitution that I have pledged to uphold, and I will do that, even if it means that I have to oppose the direction of my state party.”

Trump has vowed to do everything in his power to ensure that Murkowski loses her Senate seat next year. It remains to be seen if the former president will be successful in this endeavor.
