President Donald Trump slammed New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo for saying America “was never that great of a country” Friday morning.

Trump criticized Cuomo for pushing people and businesses out of New York during his time as governor, also mentioning that New York has the highest taxes in the U.S. Trump also called out Cuomo for saying he would does not want to “make America great again.”

The tweet comes after Cuomo, who is running for re-election against actress Cynthia Nixon, made the controversial comments on a Wednesday live stream.

Cuomo has since corrected his comments after facing criticism from many Democrats and TV pundits, saying in a statement that the country has not reached its maximum potential.

“The Governor believes America is great and that her full greatness will be fully realized when every man, woman, and child has full equality,” Cuomo’s press secretary Dani Lever said in a statement. “America has not yet reached its maximum potential.”

Cuomo is seeking a third term as governor for the state, the election will take place on Nov. 6.
