Revealed: The Top Trump Staffer Who Got the FBI Mole On the Campaign!

WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 22: U.S. President Donald Trump (C) shakes hands with James Comey, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), during an Inaugural Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders Reception in the Blue Room of the White House on January 22, 2017 in Washington, DC. Trump today mocked protesters who gathered for large demonstrations across the U.S. and the world on Saturday to signal discontent with his leadership, but later offered a more conciliatory tone, saying he recognized such marches as a "hallmark of our democracy." For the past year, we were continuously told by the media that President Donald Trump’s campaign wasn’t spied on – which was revealed to be a bold-faced lie. A bombshell report by Wall Street Journal journalist Kimberly Strassel uncovered that the FBI had an inside source within the Trump campaign, and this was before they began working with the anti-Trump dossier author, former British spy Christopher Steele. The “inside source” has been unmasked as Stefan Halper, a Cambridge professor with intelligence ties who approached Trump campaign advisers Carter Page, George Papadopoulos and Sam Clovis on multiple occasions. Now it’s been learned that Halper was pitched as a potential ambassador for the Trump administration while working as an FBI informant. According to Axios:

President Trump’s top trade adviser, Peter Navarro, recommended appointing Stefan Halper to a senior role in the Trump administration.

During the presidential transition Navarro recommended Halper, among other people, for ambassador roles in Asia. A White House official said Halper visited the Eisenhower Executive Office Building last August for a meeting about China.

During the transition everyone involved in Trump’s presidential campaign was asked to submit resumes for administration positions. Halper, who already knew Navarro in the context of being a China scholar and interviewing for his anti-China book and film, pitched himself for an ambassadorship in Asia, according to a source briefed on their interactions.

Navarro says he submitted Halper’s name for the Asian ambassadorship — we have not been able to confirm the country — along with around a dozen other people for roles in the region.

Many decades ago,  Halper was responsible for a long-forgotten spying scandal involving the 1980 election, where the Reagan campaign, using CIA officials managed by Halper, was caught running a spying operation from inside the Carter administration. “The sources identified Stefan A. Halper, a campaign aide involved in providing 24-hour news updates and policy ideas to the traveling Reagan party, as the person in charge,” reported the New York Times in 1983.

While Halper has normally had ties to Republican administrations, he was quoted in November 2016 stating that he supported Hillary Clinton’s candidacy.

It’s currently unclear whether or not Navarro knew that Halper was acting as an FBI informant. On Monday, former Trump campaign adviser Michael Caputo told Laura Ingraham that he knows “for a fact” that there was a second informant in addition to Halper, but didn’t offer more details as to two that could be.
