Trump Blasts Beto O’Rourke for His Outrageous Comments, Tells Him to ‘Be Quiet’ About El Paso Visit

Commander-in-chief heads to two grieving communities today, in Texas and Ohio — and pushes back on those who insist on calling him a 'racist' and slamming the office of the presidency

President Donald Trump on Tuesday blasted 2020 presidential candidate and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) — declaring the Democrat should “be quiet” ahead of the president’s visit to the grieving city of El Paso, Texas, following last weekend’s shooting that left nearly two dozen people dead.

Trump will also be visiting Dayton, Ohio, on Wednesday.

Ever since the shootings occurred this past weekend, O’Rourke — desperate to stay afloat in the Democratic 2020 primary race — has hammered the president, blaming him at least in part for the shooting rampage — and suggesting Trump’s rhetoric about Hispanic immigrants showed up in some way or form in the killer’s “manifesto.”

O’Rourke insisted Trump is a “racist” and even compared his language to Nazi Germany’s Third Reich.

He also compared Trump’s recent rally in Greenville, North Carolina — at which people began chanting “Send her back!” in reference to Rep. Ihlan Omar (D-Minn.) —  to “Nuremberg.”

“That is a leader reveling in the hatred and the racism of the people that he purports to serve and to lead,” O’Rourke said on Monday, as Fox News also noted.

Trump was not taking that sitting down.

He said O’Rourke was using a “phony name” in an attempt to attract voters to his campaign.

“Beto (phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage) O’Rourke, who is embarrassed by my last visit to the Great State of Texas, where I trounced him, and is now even more embarrassed by polling at 1% in the Democrat Primary, should respect the victims & law enforcement — & be quiet!” tweeted the president.

But Beto O’Rourke only pushed back harder — and continued to slam the president.

“Twenty-two people in my hometown are dead after an act of terror inspired by your racism,” tweeted the former congressman, who lost to Sen. Ted Cruz in the 2018 midterms. “El Paso will not be quiet and neither will I.”

The president “wants to go to these communities and grieve with them, pray with them, offer condolences.”

Meanwhile, the White House indicated that Trump’s visits to both El Paso and Dayton on Wednesday will be similar to those he’s made to other communities affected by gun violence.

He’ll be meeting with both mourning families and members of local law enforcement.

“What he [Trump] wants to do is go to these communities and grieve with them, pray with them, offer condolences,” White House spokesman Hogan Gidley explained on Tuesday.

Gidley said Trump also wants “to have a conversation” about ways to prevent such horrible acts of violence from happening again.
