Trey Gowdy Shreds James Comey – An Amnesiac Only Protecting Himself

In an interview with Fox News, South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy slammed James Comey as an “an amnesiac with incredible hubris” who is only out to protect himself.

Gowdy spoke with host Martha MacCallum to discuss the former FBI Director, who recently testified in a closed-door interview with congressional lawmakers. Comey was questioned about a series of controversies, including his department’s handling of the Hillary Clinton private email server investigation and the subsequent Russian collusion probe.

“Comey just thinks he’s always right, and … it doesn’t matter if everyone else concludes he did wrong,” Gowdy said. “He knows better. So, that’s what it’s like to interview an amnesiac with incredible hubris.”

MacCallum asked if he thought Comey had operated in a political manner when it came to dealing with investigations involving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Donald Trump.

“I think Jim Comey was primarily motivated by a desire to protect the brand of Jim Comey,” Gowdy responded. “But he has been so overtly partisan since he left, not just (with) the president, but he wants people to vote Democrat, he wants a Democrat House. He’s just become a political flunky.”

Is Comey really an amnesiac?

We know Comey has a lot of unwarranted hubris, but what about the amnesiac part? This is, after all, a man who remembered intimate details when it came to private conversations with the President.

During his closed-door testimony, according to Fox News, “Comey claimed ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I don’t remember’ in response to dozens of questions concerning key details in the Russia probe.”

Ah, so it was selective amnesia. Selective amnesia that prompted one lawmaker to joke, “(Comey’s) memory was so bad I feared he might not remember how to get out of the room after the interview.”

Not the first Time Gowdy has shredded Comey

Gowdy has pretty much eviscerated Comey every chance he gets.

During a joint session held by the House Oversight and Judiciary panels in June, Gowdy slammed the pro-Democrat lawman for serving as judge, jury, and non-executioner when it came to the handling of Clinton’s private email server.

“We see Jim Comey and Jim Comey alone deciding which DOJ policies to follow and which to ignore,” he said.

And who could ever forget the time it took Gowdy all of 71 seconds to completely blow apart the FBI’s rationale for exonerating Clinton in the first place?

During the MacCallum interview, Gowdy slammed Comey for being ethical only within his own mind.

“Comey is one of the best I have ever seen at always being right in his mind, and it doesn’t matter if he is a universe of one,” he chastised. “When you write a book about ethics and morality, that in and of itself is a fairly high-opinion-of-yourself thing to do.”

You may recall, Comey was actually pegged to teach an ethical leadership class at William & Mary College. Listening to Gowdy, the former FBI Director might be the only one who believes the words coming out of his mouth. Students should ask for a refund.

Comey leaked memos of conversations he had with the President to the media, then claimed the information wasn’t classified. He let Clinton, who had classified material on her private server hacked by foreign entities off the hook with a ridiculous ‘no reasonable prosecutor’ excuse. He allowed aides and lawyers in on the interview to protect her.

He is, as Gowdy says, only right, only decent, and only ethical in his own mind.
