Trey Gowdy Is Joining Fox News as a Contributor

Fox News has announced former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy will be joining the network as a contributor offering political and legal commentary.

Gowdy joins a growing number of politicians slipping out of the public arena to provide political punditry for major networks.

Earlier this week, former senator Jeff Flake signed with CBS while former Republican governor of Ohio and potential challenger to President Trump in 2020, John Kasich, joined CNN.

According to a statement released by Fox, Gowdy “will offer political and legal analysis across both FNC and FOX Business Network’s (FBN) daytime and primetime programming.”

The new role will be in conjunction with his joining a South Carolina-based law and lobbying firm where he previously worked. In that role, he will focus on white-collar criminal defense and independent government investigations.

This is Going to Be Good

If post-congressional commentary is any indication as to what’s to come on Fox News, then Gowdy should be thoroughly entertaining.

Just days after the new Congress was sworn in, Gowdy blasted presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren when she criticized him for allegedly retiring to earn a “fat lobbyist paycheck,” suggesting she’d been drinking.

His quick wit and pointed barbs at incompetent Democrats like Warren will be most welcome in his new gig.

In an exit interview of sorts on Fox News, Gowdy slammed former FBI director James Comey as a “political flunky” and “an amnesiac with incredible hubris” who is only out to protect himself.

Comey was one of Gowdy’s favorite punching bags over the past couple of years, most famously needing all of 71 seconds to completely blow apart the FBI’s rationale for exonerating Hillary Clinton and her private email server scandal.

What Will Gowdy’s Take Be on the Mueller Investigation?

Of particular interest will be Gowdy’s assessment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. His role with a law firm conducting ‘independent government investigations‘ and this role with Fox offering legal commentary should provide unique insight.

Gowdy has previously predicted that the Mueller investigation will find no evidence of Donald Trump’s ‘collusion’ with Russia.

The former Representative concluded Mueller will “disappoint” the mainstream media by finding no evidence of ties between the Kremlin and President Trump.

“I have not seen one scintilla of evidence that this president colluded, conspired, collaborated, with Russia,” Gowdy has previously said. “And neither has anyone else, or you can rest assured, Adam Schiff would have leaked it.”

That kind of fiery commentary is exactly what Fox News needs right now.
