Top Democrat Presidential Hopefuls Say They Support Reparations for Slavery

Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris, two of the Democrat party’s top contenders for the White House in 2020, have expressed support for providing reparations for black Americans affected by slavery.

Harris, the Senator from California, was asked directly if she is “for some type of reparations” during a radio interview last week, to which she responded, “Yes, I am. Yes I am.”

“I think that we have got to address that again, it’s back to the inequities,” she added, after referencing Jim Crow laws and 200 years of slavery, both concepts that the Democrat party fought tooth and nail to keep intact.

“We have got to recognize … people aren’t starting out on the same base in terms of their ability to succeed and so we have got to recognize that and give people a lift up.”

People aren’t starting out on equal footing because of something that ended over 150 years ago?

Warren Agrees With Harris

Warren, the Senator from Massachusetts, who has struggled to find her own truth since her campaign launch with beer-drinking videos and finally admitting she falsified her own heritage to further her career, jumped on board with Harris.

“We must confront the dark history of slavery and government-sanctioned discrimination in this country that has had many consequences, including undermining the ability of black families to build wealth in America for generations,” Warren told the New York Times. “We need systemic, structural changes to address that.”

Slavery was abolished in 1865 with the ratification of the 13th amendment. Some policy experts say the idea could cost trillions of dollars in an effort to offer financial backing to those who have never actually experienced slavery.

Following the Radical Left

Harris and Warren are two of the more blatantly pandering politicians on the left. Everything they say is calculated – in the case of Harris, craftily, and in the case of Warren, sloppily. But make no mistake, they are saying these things as a means to garner support from their radical base.

Prior to now, reparations have typically been a concept only embraced by the fringe of the Democratic party.

Rep. Maxine Waters, the intellectually void Democrat from California, told a crowd in Selma, Alabama, that the concept of reparations is one she would highly consider.

New York socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she backs reparations, not simply for slavery but for non-white communities who were negatively impacted by America’s New Deal.

“Slavery was abolished a century and a half ago, nobody today has a grandparent who was a slave, and in that sense I think you reach a point where you need to move on,” Mark Steyn told Tucker Carlson Thursday night.

He’s right.

Perhaps somebody should remind these Democrats that President Trump has done more to help the black community in just over two years than the previous president did in eight. He’s providing minorities jobs and an opportunity. Democrats simply want to hand minorities free money in exchange for a vote.

A poll conducted in 2016 showed nearly seven in 10 Americans oppose paying reparations.
