‘The View’ Gives Biden Free Pass For Response To Swine Flu – Allows Him To Relentlessly Bash Trump Over Coronavirus

The media can try to cover for Biden all they want, but most Americans will see right through it.

The View Biden

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden appeared on the ABC talk show “The View” on Tuesday morning and the hosts gave him the easiest questions possible while also giving him a free pass for his handling of the Swine flu pandemic during his time as vice president, despite previously describing his response as “irresponsible.”

Back in 2009, long before Biden was trying to run for president against Donald Trump, “The View” creator Barbara Walters called his response to the H1N1 pandemic “irresponsible,” according to The Daily Caller.

Radically left-wing co-host Joy Behar added at the time, “Joe Biden doesn’t remember he’s the Vice President sometimes. He thinks he’s playing card games with his friends in Atlantic City. I mean, I like the guy but I think that he doesn’t realize that he is number two…”

Today, however, the hosts of “The View” were singing a very different tune about Biden, who now can do no wrong in their eyes. Instead of confronting him about his mistakes with the Swine flu pandemic, the hosts asked him how he would handle coronavirus differently than Trump, giving him his first window to attack the president.

“You said that Trump has neglected, minimized and lied about the virus. I completely agree with that. And now you’re doing daily briefings on the virus from your home in Delaware. I thank you for that. Is this to counter the misinformation that Trump is putting out that you’ve referenced before?” co-host Sunny Hostin asked, with leading questions.

Biden responded by saying that in times of crisis, Americans need to have confidence that they are getting accurate information from their leaders:

“The American people can handle the truth but what they can’t handle is something that’s not true that they believe in a moment and then they found out it’s not true. They lose confidence. The president has to be instilling confidence in the American people that we know how to deal with this virus. Look, all the way back in January the intelligence community was saying that it’s coming, we’re going to have a real problem with this virus. On January 27th I wrote a piece for U.S. News and World Report saying we must be prepared, and it wasn’t taken seriously. We’re a day late and a dollar short, but now we’re catching up.”

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg then got in on the action with another easy question, asking, “What are the three first things you would do if you were president right now that would specifically help Americans?”

Biden replied by saying that he would try and help American workers, though he didn’t go into much detail about how he would actually do that. Instead of calling him out for this, Hostin jumped back in to give him another softball question he could easily use to attack Trump.

“Republicans have been reluctant to openly criticize the president’s initial response to the virus. Democrats haven’t,” she said. “What do you say to Americans who feel that Democrats are in a way politicizing the issue and that we should be standing behind the president because this is an American problem?”

I think there’s truth to both sides,” he replied. “That’s why if you notice on what I’ve been doing, I’ve not been criticizing the president but I’ve been pointing out where there’s disagreement as to how to proceed. As I pointed out yesterday in a presentation I made online which I guess 3.5 million people watched it or something like that I was told, is that he’s not — the coronavirus is not his fault but the lack of speed with which to respond to it has to move much faster.”

Biden ended by saying that he does not want the coronavirus response to be political, even though he has regularly used the pandemic to bash Trump himself.

Assuming Biden secures the Democratic presidential nominations, as it appears that he will, you can expect to see many more of these softball interviews in the coming months. The mainstream media knows that Biden is a sub-par candidate with a ton of baggage, so they will work overtime to portray him positively and give him the easiest interviews possible in the hopes that he will beat Trump in November.

The media can try to cover for Biden all they want, but most Americans will see right through it. In the end, the American people are much smarter than the media give us credit for, and we won’t fall for their nonsense.
