‘The View’ Is Not Pleased With The UK Ending COVID Restrictions

On Tuesday, the co-hosts of the popular ABC talk show ‘The View” had some unkind words for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson after the United Kingdom dropped COVID-19 restrictions.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg wondered if Johnson was “jumping the gun,” particularly considering Queen Elizabeth II’s Sunday announcement that she’d tested positive for COVID-19.

‘The View’ Co-Hosts Take Turns Slamming UK’s Decision

Co-host Joy Behar responded, “They seem to be jumping ahead of themselves with this whole thing right now it seems to me.”  

“Everybody is like, ‘I’m sick of it, I’m over it,’” Behar continued. “We are. We’re all sick of it. I’m sure [the audience doesn’t] like that they have to wear masks in here.”

“I have to wear a mask at the theater,” Behar said. “If I go to a concert, I have to wear a mask wherever there’s a crowd. And we’re sick of it.”

“But that doesn’t mean that the medical science has caught up 100 percent yet,” she warned. “The British Medical Association says that, ‘removing all restrictions in England is premature… incredibly concerning…’ adding that it ‘neglects and fails those most at risk for COVID,’ meaning the queen, who’s 95.”

That’s when co-host Sunny Hostin said ending the UK restrictions came across as “tone-deaf.”

How Did The Queen Get COVID?

“They have one job and that’s to protect the queen,” Hostin said. “And they couldn’t even do that. Prince Charles, I guess, was breathing all over her and gave her COVID. And Now Camilla [Duchess of Cornwall] has COVID.”

“Maybe Camilla gave it to her,” Hostin wondered.

Goldberg also wondered if the queen might have “got it in the air.”

Prime Minister Johnson said on Monday after it was announced the restrictions were ending, “Today is not the day we can declare victory over Covid, because this virus is not going away. But it is the day when all the efforts of the last two years finally enabled us to protect ourselves while restoring our liberties in full.”

Among the changes are ending the legal requirement to self-isolate after testing positive, focusing testing on vulnerable populations, and no longer requiring vaccine passports.
