The Usual GOP Suspects Are Helping Biden – With Friends Like These Who Needs Enemies?

In the aftermath of one of the greatest American military blunders in history, the push is on to bring tens of thousands of Afghan refugees to the United States.

Because why should we stay there when they can just come here? 

Fox News reports that the Pentagon says it plans on bringing 22,000 Afghans who hold Special Immigrant Visas (SIV’s) to the U.S. and house them on three separate military bases.

But 22,000 is not a hard and fast number, that total could rise. Press Secretary for the Pentagon John Kirby said earlier in the week that, “If we have to go more, higher than that, we will certainly do that. We’re committed to their families as well.”

There’s a reason you see the figures 80,000 and 100,000 bandied about.

And right there to help Joe Biden? Our wonderful, always helpful Republican Party.

Who Supports This? Why The GOP, Of Course

While Americans are dealing with an invasion – yes, let’s call it what it is, an invasion – of illegal aliens on the southern border, in areas of the American Southwest, citizens are literally begging the federal government to come help stem the never-ending tide of people coming across the border.

So you would think that Republicans can see why it might be a bad time to fly in another unknown batch of tens of thousands of people.

But Republicans, always on the lookout for a way not to be called racists and xenophobes, are all pretty much OK with this. In fact, in a way, we owe it to the Afghans, just ask Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

As you might expect, a few of the usual suspects are involved.

Republicans On Board With Refugee Flights

46 Senators – so far – are calling for a humanitarian parole designation for special groups such as activists, journalists, parliamentarians, and women leaders. A few of those who signed onto the letter requesting this are Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), and Bill Cassidy (R-LA).

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), apparently auditioning for the gang of usual suspects said, “We have always been very welcoming to those that needed to immigrate and those refugees that were running away from disaster in their own country. And I do think that we can play a role and I think it’s important that we do that.”

And of course, rounding out the list of usual suspects, came this from McConnell, “We need to care for them. We owe it to these people, who are our friends and who worked with us, to get them out safely if we can.”

Not to be outdone, Governors Spencer Cox of Utah and Brian Kemp of Georgia threw open the doors of their states.

Before We Start Loading The Planes…

At this moment, everyone imagine the sound it makes when you slam on the brakes.

Yes, America is a place where those who have been or are being persecuted come for safety. 

But before any of that happens, we get Americans out first.

The McConnell Republicans no doubt need a reminder that there are still people who think that’s the way to go, that there are still some of us who do things that way.

The above mentioned groups of people? Perhaps. After Americans, then it’s their turn.

The problem is, as everyone tramples everyone else to get a seat on the C17, who are the people getting on the plane?

Are they really those from the targeted groups stated above? Were any of the people seen running to get on the plane vetted?

Funny thing about terrorists, they try to blend right in. It worked pretty well for them on 9/11. 

There is also the debate over who exactly was helping who in Afghanistan.

Columnist Ann Coulter summed it up. “There seems to be some confusion about who was helping whom here. Our Afghan allies’ were not helping us. The Taliban weren’t in Iowa, we were helping them.” 

There has been just a few Republican House members who have spoken up about an influx of Afghan refugees into the U.S. Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) said, “The chaos we’re seeing is not an excuse to flood our country with refugees from Afghanistan.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted, “all Afghan refugees should be held elsewhere and vetted right now, NOT given direct entry into the U.S.”

For the gang of usual Republican suspects, the McConnell Republicans, a highly effective plan concise enough to fit into a tweet surely would have been unacceptable simply for the fact that it came from Donald Trump.
