The Closer The Election Gets, The More Desperate The Media Will Become

It should come as a surprise to no one that instead of talking about this morning’s absolutely phenomenal economic news – 1.4 million new jobs and the unemployment rate dropping to 8.4% – the media is instead focused on an article in The Atlantic that relies on anonymous sources to make outrageous claims about President Trump.

Media Focuses On The Atlantic’s Claim

The Atlantic is standing by their disgusting story despite the fact that the White House has produced emails from the time that refute their claim. And, despite the fact that six White House officials who were there that day went on the record making it clear The Atlantic story was absolutely untrue.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders summed up the sentiment of those who were actually there the best on Twitter:

“The Atlantic story on @realDonaldTrump is total BS. I was actually there and one of the people part of the discussion – this never happened. I have sat in the room when our President called family members after their sons were killed in action and it was heart-wrenching… These were some of the moments I witnessed the President show his heart and demonstrate how much he respects the selfless and courageous men and women of our military. I am disgusted by this false attack.”

Media Smears On The Rise

This won’t be the last time we see these kind of media smears. The reality is that the closer the election gets – both closer in the horse race and closer to the actually Election day itself – the more desperate the media will become in their unending quest to destroy President Trump.

The media knows that Joe Biden cannot win on his own. Hell, Biden can’t give coherent answers to friendly media outlets – even when he has been given the questions in advance.

Trump’s victory in 2016 came as an absolute shock to the system of the main stream media. It defied everything they had said about Trump’s viability and defied everything they believed about the nation and their influence over the people of this country.

Instead of asking the question “what did I miss in 2016?” Or asking “who should I have listened to in 2016?” the media has instead chosen to double-down.

When there should have been introspection and soul-searching, the media instead chose to go from simply hostile to the President (2016) to willing to do, say, and print anything to destroy the President and malign his supporters (2020).

The same media that willingly peddled the debunked Russia hoax and openly fomented violence in American cities will do whatever they think is necessary to stop President Trump’s reelection.

The problem for the media, is that their attacks on the President have even less value and impact today than they did in 2016.

Americans Have Lost Faith In Media

Why? Because Americans have completely and totally lost faith in the American media.

A new Gallup poll shows that whopping 73% of Americans see too much bias in the news media as a “major problem.” And, even more frightening for the media – nearly 80% of Americans believe the media is pushing an agenda:

More than 8 in 10 Americans say that when they suspect an inaccuracy in a story, they worry it was intentional – because the reporter was misrepresenting the facts (54%) or making them up (28%). Only 16% said they thought the inaccuracies were innocent mistakes. And when it comes to news sources they distrust, nearly 8 in 10 Americans (or 79%) say those outlets are trying to persuade people to adopt a certain opinion.

The overwhelming majority of Americans also rightfully believe that the media is responsible for needlessly dividing Americans:

Forty-eight percent (48%) of Americans say the media bears “a great deal” of blame for political division in this country, and thirty-six percent (36%) say they bear “a moderate amount.”

The toxic combination of the media’s increasing belligerence towards the President, the tightening election, and the media’s dwindling ability to influence the American electorate means that the attacks on the President will get uglier.

And, any shred of journalistic integrity will be abandoned by the media between now and November.
