Texas Democrats Flee State In Private Plane To Stop Republican Election Integrity Vote

Texas Democrats Skip Work, Grab Miller Lites And Go On No-Mask Flight To Save Democracy From Republicans

On Monday, Texas Democrats fled the state on a maskless flight from Texas to Washington D.C. to deny a quorum and prevent the passage of a Republican-backed election integrity bill.

And they brought Miller Lite beer with them on the bus to the airport.

Democratic State Rep. Julie Johnson originally tweeted and later deleted a photo of her and her fellow Democrats on an airport shuttle, “When it comes to protecting our right to vote, all cards are on the table.”

Miller Lite aboard

“We broke #quorum again today because the Gov & #txlege Repubs chose to bully Texans out of our constitutional rights instead of finding solutions to problems that really exist.”

That’s when Twitter noticed they also had Miller Lite.

No Masks For These Traveling Democrats

And then another thing, these Democrats on their chartered flight to Dulles airport – none of them had masks.

Currently, federal guidelines require masks on all “onboard commercial aircraft.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Blasts Dems

The Daily Caller reported, “Once the Democrats arrive in D.C., they reportedly plan to rally on behalf of the For The People Act, a Democrat-led proposal to nationalize America’s elections that passed the House of Representatives but has since been stalled in the Senate.”

“The Republican proposal Texas Democrats seek to block includes new voter ID requirements for voting by mail, prevents elections officials from sending mail-in ballot applications to voters who didn’t ask for one and bans drive-through voting,” the Caller noted.

“It also expands the powers available to partisan poll watchers and institutes new criminal penalties for people who improperly assist others with mail-in or in-person voting,” the news outlet noted.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said of Democrat representatives in his state breaking quorum, “as they fly across the country on cushy private planes, they leave undone issues that can help their districts & our state.”

It’s not the first time Democrats have fled.

In 2011, Wisconsin Democrats famously fled the state to try to prevent Governor Scott Walker’s public union reforms.
